Instead, they cancel the show, pissing off everyone from fighters, promoters, sponsors and fans, for no reason, except to make JJ look like a douch. It makes the whole sport look bad, and i wouldn't be surprised if fans hesitat to travel out of state in fear of it being cancleed again. The ticket says "Card Subject to Change", not cancelled. You understand that as a fan, but to cancel the whole thing is bogus. BOOO UFC!!!!

What kind of idiot organization relies on their champions? That's about as dumb as a company relying on its executives.
The only real criticism you can give the UFC is having to many events, or not enough divisions. You can't make PPV cards without a title fight or at least 2 contender fights, and at 1 a month, your champs would have to fight every 6 months without fail. That's not realistic. They have to rely on their champs to carry cards occasionally. The most obvious and reasonable solution was to give Jones a gimme, which thy did, but he refused.
A champion should want to help his company. Any champ from the pre-money hungry era would have taken the fight, and bet all of the other current champs would have too. Bones error was deliberate, but the UFC was just trying to make do with why they had and failed. I tend to favor the person that at least tried to make it work.

If this were a situation of a company relying on its executives then the UFC would be relying on DW and LF, not Jones.
Instead, this is more like a farmer's crops were taken out in a storm that he didn't prepare for and then expecting the farmhands to fix it for him.

It was definitely an irrational decision, but they're known for making irrational decisions.
Jones obviously didn't step up to the plate when his company needed him, but something else should have been done.

It was cancelled because of 2 fights. The 2 main fights. There's no coming back from that. Not without f---ing over the fans.
Ellenberger vs Kos and Jones vs Hendo is a good card. You can't expect the UFC to put 5 title fights on each card. You can't even expect them to put 2 except in extreme circumstances. You're being unrealistic.

That's a terrible analogy. Jones is the crop in your analogy. A better comparison would be trying to sell your remaining crop for a reduced price so that your children don't starve, but when your crop doesn't sell because it's a selfish bastard, you eat the crop and take a hit in the wallet.

But the UFC is trying to pin all the blame on Bones as if he was the whole reason it imploded. That's what i have an issue with. And you're right, 2 fights on a main card are tough to come back from. And the timing was horrible as well. To have a mad scramble to replace a main event fighter 9 days before the event is asking the impossible, unless you want a freak show type fight.

The UFC never did that. The fans did, and rightly so. It was an easy win/win situation that any reasonable person would have taken, but Bones is a selfish fighter that f---ed over the company that made him what he is. Without the UFC, Bones is nothing more than a Bellator champ, aka a broke fighter with no sponsors. Great way to show his appreciation for the company that made him rich and famous. It's not a matter of who is to blame. It's a matter of Bones spitting in the face of the UFC and MMA fans.

They had a lot of options for Ellenberger, but they decided to simply rely on Jones/Henderson and put Hieron in there with Jake. No slam on Hieron, but he's no PPV draw. Heck, if DW had let cooler heads prevail and waited just a couple hours to try other solutions, he could have had Anderson on there, thrown in Weidman, and probably a third extra fight with Sonnen. Instead he just gave up and called it quits.
As for the UFC not blaming Jones, how can you listen to the DW conference call and say that with a straight face. Fighters may not be where they are without the UFC, but the UFC is nothing without the fighters either.

Actually the fight is the crop. The fighters are the farmhand. The injury is the storm. The crappy card is the not being prepared. Your interpretation is off in more than that too. DW and the UFC is not a poor farmer scraping by, they have more than enough money to have taken a hit, put the card on and still pay the fighters.

The UFC never did that. The fans did, and rightly so. It was an easy win/win situation that any reasonable person would have taken, but Bones is a selfish fighter that f**ked over the company that made him what he is. Without the UFC, Bones is nothing more than a Bellator champ, aka a broke fighter with no sponsors. Great way to show his appreciation for the company that made him rich and famous. Dana came out and blamed everything on Jones and Jackson, listen to the UFC 151 conference call. The only thing he didn't say was that Jon Jones was personally responsible for not making UFC 151. But he did say it was scrapped because Jones didn't want to fight.
Also, for the co-main event, how long ago was Kos scratched? Should have been marketing their new co-main event...

Dana on Hendo pulling out:
"He tried to train and tried to continue to work out," White said of Henderson's knee injury. "He saw doctors, and there was nothing we could do to save that fight."
Dana on Bones refusing Chaels offer:
"I don't know why a guy who was a world champion and considered by many to be the pound-for-pound best wouldn't fight anybody," he said. "It's baffling to me. I've never seen it before."

You're rich and you've got some money, and you don't need to take this fight. But there's a bunch of guys on the undercard that this is how they feed their family, and this is how they make a living

Atleast IMO he's laying the blame on Bones for the card being cancelled. And to try and hold him responsible for OTHER fighters not being able to "feed their family" is nothing short of a low blow. Am i surprised? Hell no, it's Dana White afterall.
I won't go into a long rant about the last 24 hrs, but why were there only MW fighters offering to step up? Where the fugg where the LHW's that supposedly are fighting for an opportunity for that strap? Even if you weren't prepared to fight, a phone call requesting the chance would have done wonders. Hell, I expected Tito to offer to step in....and he probably would have gotten the fight if he had.
Is Bones a pompous, entitled pr*ck? Probably. But i don't blame him for turning down the Chael fight. Training for Hendo's right hand, then suddenly having to revamp your camp (who is cornering Arlovski out of country this weekend) to gameplan for a southpaw in the span of 3-4 days is nearly impossible.

All the marketing in the world won't make that fight an acceptable PPV main event.
He never blames Jones for the card being cancelled. Just says that he had every reason to accept the fight and didn't, and that the card hinged on him saying yes. Dana has every reason to be pissed.

I'm gonna throw Dana a bone, no pun intended. For business reasons, I too would lay the blame on Jon Jones, if I was him. Is it selfish, certainly, but people aren't going to go against me. The fighters surely aren't going to publicly condemn me, for not making sure UFC 151 went of. If they do, they know how much power I have. For business reason its smart to blame a big failure like this on someone else, especially if they're gonna buy it without putting much thought into it. Then I don't get blamed for UFC 151 not happening, and I can go back to business as usual like I had my hands tied.

Atleast IMO he's laying the blame on Bones for the card being cancelled. And to try and hold him responsible for OTHER fighters not being able to "feed their family" is nothing short of a low blow. Am i surprised? Hell no, it's Dana White afterall.
I won't go into a long rant about the last 24 hrs, but why were there only MW fighters offering to step up? Where the fugg where the LHW's that supposedly are fighting for an opportunity for that strap? Even if you weren't prepared to fight, a phone call requesting the chance would have done wonders. Hell, I expected Tito to offer to step in....and he probably would have gotten the fight if he had.
Is Bones a pompous, entitled pr*ck? Probably. But i don't blame him for turning down the Chael fight. Training for Hendo's right hand, then suddenly having to revamp your camp (who is cornering Arlovski out of country this weekend) to gameplan for a southpaw in the span of 3-4 days is nearly impossible.

Thin line I suppose. I see him getting upset with how Bones handled the situation. I don't see him blaming Bones for he card. Blaming him for not taking the fight, which inadvertently cancelled the card, but not blaming him for the cancellation.
Again, Bones had millions of reasons to say yes. And 1 to say no, and chose no. Everyone is right to be pissed.

Dana came out and blamed everything on Jones and Jackson, listen to the UFC 151 conference call. The only thing he didn't say was that Jon Jones was personally responsible for not making UFC 151. But he did say it was scrapped because Jones didn't want to fight.
Also, for the co-main event, how long ago was Kos scratched? Should have been marketing their new co-main event...

All the marketing in the world won't make that fight an acceptable PPV main event.
He never blames Jones for the card being cancelled. Just says that he had every reason to accept the fight and didn't, and that the card hinged on him saying yes. Dana has every reason to be pissed.

I'm glad you said that all the marketing in the world would make Ellenberger VS Hieron a PPV main event. Which means the fight did hang on one fight at least in your opinion.
Dana doesn't have every reason to be pissed, but he does have a lot of financial reasons to be pissed. Should have done more with their co-main event, especially if he felt like it wasn't good enough. And especially if he had time to do something about it, which he most have had if he had time to try and replace Hendo with only eight days on the clock.
