This thread is basically saying why you watched this UFC, I was just thinking about it. This Main-Event here Pettis Vs Henders is worthy of a PPV and the rest of the card is awesome. I probably wouldnt buy this card if the rest of the card wasnt so stacked. This idea popped into my head from a journalist saying there is only a few guys that people will order the PPV's just for them.
So which fighters can carry a card by themselves PPV buys?
Are you ordering UFC 164 because the main-event or the rest of the card?
Name other instances where you would have not ordered if it was not for the main-event or vica versa...
To me, its almost gotten to the point where im looking forward to the rest of the card if Benson is defending his title, but hes fighting Pettis, so im on the fence with the card and the main event in this one.
The Silva Vs Weidman fight was one where it carried the PPV I think.

Main event, but I would order this PPV if the card was exactly the same minus the main event.

I don't know man, maybe I'm just simple but I like watching ALL the fights and how they unfold whether its exciting or not is just icing on the cake I guess. Don't get me wrong, awesome KOs and spectacular subs are excellent but a hard fought decision or a so called boring masterpiece are fun to me as well. I look forward to the "names" but enjoy watching guys I'm not so familiar with also

Ya, I know, I like all fights, but sometimes I wont order them because it cost too much for me. Im broke, there are some I have to make choices on. Some cards either have a good main event with 1 other fight and the rest are duds, or the card is stacked and the main event sucks.... It happens a lot I think... Im with ya thou on liking all the fights.
edit.. but like d.w. says you cant say anything till the card is over...

I have to stick with my favorite fighters so if Penn or are on a card I am def buying it as well as Bendo

I could care less about the main event. Ben's fights are boring and Pettis doesn't deserve the shot. Only thing that would make it worth my time is if Pettis got smashed........but Ben doesn't smash anyone so it will be 5 rounds of point fighting.
If it wasn't for my friends wanting to watch it then I wouldn't even bother.

lol what are you doing on these forums again? I just don't understand how you don't find this fight worth watching or exciting. Just because you don't usually want to re-watch a Benson Henderson fight, doesn't mean it wasn't a really good fight while it happened (just like GSP). His style is actually pretty exciting live and lots of fights are interesting/close due to the talent level in the division. Plus we've already seen what these two are capable of...and that fight was amazing. Decision or not.

I personally love the prelims. Since I started Fantasy fighting, I watch the prelims and they go at it. They try to make a statement because they want the hype and stardom. I cant recall the last boring prelim. I CAN recall the last boring main card fight

I dont pay for 1 fight when i buy PPVs. I pay for the whole card meaning if the card is lousy, i wont buy no way. For example, cards like UFC 161 or UFC 147. I didnt buy those. I am ashamed to say though that i DID buy UFC 149.......>_> Yea anyway, a good main event is awesome but a solid card is what i look at overall.

Hell i wanted Ben to destroy Pettis because Pettis is a dbag but after 2 seconds of watching Ben's stupid double jab to air I wanted Pettis to kick his ***.........and it happened

I think on most recent Jon Jones PPVs you have paid for the main event. They have tended to not stack those cards it seems, relying on his selling power.
I buy most of the PPVs... if the main event is really good Im probably ordering no matter what the undercard looks like. If the main event sucks, then I decide if the rest of the card is worth it.

what is bizarre about it? Serra didn't deserve his shot against GSP.......he was just lucky to get a gimmick shot from a reality show. Technically Lesnar didn't deserve his title shot..... most of coutures title shots weren't earned.
There are plenty of "champs" who got the belt off of unearned shots.

I wanted to see benson and pettis for a long time, *I bought it just for them. And it was so worth it. Didn't even know guida and mir were fighting.
