Anyone been watching this? I was really bummed when Colbert went off the air... he was my favorite. Then I heard that Larry Wilmore was getting the spot and I was just meh. But I gotta say, he's been funny as s--- and I really like the format of his show. He's much better on this than he was as a correspondent on the Daily Show.

Will have to watch. Larry Wilmore was one of the only correspondents I liked anymore. I didn't like John Oliver until he took over Stewarts role while he was away. Then he was really funny.

It's pretty intellectual for a comedy show, but it works, and I like it.

Yeah Wilmore was ok on the Daily Show but he's a lot better in this format... a lot like Jon Oliver like you mentioned. He's more free to be himself rather than the correspondent character and he is funnnny.

That's a good review. I used to love the daily show on its own, but since the Colbert report went off the air, i find myself not watching it at all. it was one of those perfect situations where if one show wasn't funny you could rely on the other one to be funny.
hope the late night show with Colbert is good.
but it's like telling kramer not to be kramer, or seinfeld not to be seinfeld. just don't know if it's going to be as meaningful as the Report.

Let's not try to compare Colbert's show with Wilmore's show too much. They're two completely different kinds of shows, and it would be unfair to Wilmore to hold him to the same standards as Colbert when they follow two completely different formats.

Oh yeah... that's why I like this show so much. It's a different format than Colbert/The Daily Show. I've seen other shows do the panel discussions but he moderates them well. Last night the topic was snipers and the movie American Sniper and he had on 2 real snipers... that one black dude was intense! That guy was a cold blooded killer. Hearing him talk about the 'targets' he took out... he's killed like 88 people and it was nothing to him. The way he talked about how was able to detatch himself from the act and perform his job really was intense. The other sniper was just kinda goofy and happy.
Wilmore usually contrasts that with 2 guests on the other side of the topic. Last night it was a Pakistani-Canadian lesbian comedian, and some other guy who I wasn't sure who he was.

I gave up about 10 minutes into the first episode. Never liked Wilmore on the Daily show and he's not any funnier on his own show.

Just like @Midnight they are on Jon Stewart's schedule. When he goes on vacation so do they.

Very Bill Maherish in terms of the set up. Seems like it will take them a bit to find their own direction of what they want to be.
