I have seen the gates of Oblivion, beyond which no waking eye may see.

Another company is making the remaster. Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76 are the reasons why ES6 (and Fallout 5) will release approximately the same time as humanity discovers faster than light travel.

It's going to be longer between ES5 and ES6 than the length of time between Daggerfall and Skyrim. Think about THAT. It might even be close to same length of time between
Arena
and Skyrim.

Why would Bethesda make new content when the content they have is incredible? Remaster a 20 year old game and you are targeting a whole new audience while paying 1/10th the developers. Plus....NO BUGS, which we both know Bethesda is notorious for.
Besides, Starfield doesn't even have an online version yet...

If this is being released for Switch, I will probably c-- in my pants. The Switch is the only way I can play anything for the time being, and I only get short bursts.

Yep, they have soo many masterpieces they can make a killing off of remastering for every console generation. I've bought Skyrim four separate times, and I have no regrets. I've bought Fallout 3 three separate times, and I will absolutely buy the remaster when it comes out. I would have preferred they remaster that over Oblivion, but it is supposedly next.

Starfield is high on my list of things to play when I eventually get free time back in a few years.

I have avoided for the same reasons. I will get lost in it.
BUT, I all the reviews I have read is that it fell very short of expectations, so I feel no obligation to it. I also do not prefer sci-fi over fantasy or dystopian game play, which is another reason to be ok with it. Had it been game of the decade like Skyrim, I would probably be divorced, lol.

Bethesda fans work themselves into a frenzy expecting amazing and ground breaking features while they wait for new releases. When the product naturally falls short of their dreams, they get upset and review the game poorly. For this reason, I tend to ignore reviews of Bethesda games. I'm pretty sure I will be impressed when I eventually play it.
I had a similar experience with No Man's Sky. People worked themselves up into the stratosphere with expectations and were naturally disappointed. I waited a few years to check it out, completely ignored reviews and had no expectations, and I enjoyed it for what it was.
