When Chuck entered the Middleweight Grand prix all of us who were already Junkies were pumped... Dana tried multiple times to get his guys into Pride events and tried to get Pride guys in UFC events. There were rumors of a UFC vs. Pride event many times. If that would have worked out in the LHW division the tourney should have went something like this.
Chuck (UFC) vs. Wandy (PRIDE)
Tito (UFC) vs. Henderson (PRIDE)
Couture (UFC) vs. Shogun (PRIDE)
Vitor (UFC) vs. Rampage (PRIDE)
At this point in their careers who do you think would have won this tourney? '05- '06 timeframe
I've got
Wandy
Hendo
Couture
Page
Then
Hendo
Couture
with Couture winning it all

No way Couture beats Shogun in 06. Randy was great, but inkyw in the US and his only real top win was Chuck.
I think Wandy or Shogun wins this in 06, but that is a list of killers. I don't think any of the guys from the UFC during that time win. Chuck, Tito, Randy all get beat. Vitor is the only one who has a chance.

The 2007 Pride Lightweight GP was the tournament that should have been.
The line up was rumored to be Hughes, Sanchez, Gomi, Aurelio, Melendez, Hansen, Kawajiri, Ishida, Buscape, Aoki, Sakurai, and Azevedo. Sheer madness.

Lol... And how about the second one?
Fact is during this time Chuck was the least skilled of all of them except Tito and Randy. Maybe even Vitor because he was kind of on the fridge at this time. Chuck beats no one from PRIDE during this time.

Oh you mean the fight where he had his arm break from a take down less than a minute in? Randy is as over rated is it gets cuz he was an old fart beating the 2nd tier in the UFC. That goes for both HW and LHW...
No cage = half of Randy's tactics are gone. He would have got f---ing merked just like Arona....you know..one of the best grapplers of that time...who got stomped out.

No Penn involved in there? I find it hard to believe Penn would not throw himself into a mix like that especially since he would kick the s--- out of all of them

chuck was nearly 40 and his punch resistence was gone, happens to every fighter, easy to diss an old chuck but in his prime every one was in awe

2006 Shogun...you know pre knee injuries.
Couture would be getting stomped and soccer kicked .

I think if Shogun didnt have the knee problems he could of been one of the g.o.a.ts even though he is a legend. Couture would be a stiff test and Shogun would have big problems with him. Any one who thinks he would walk through Couture doesnt have a clue about mma.

Other than his win over Chuck and Vitor (way f---ing back in the day) what has Couture ever done that I'd put him on par with that 2006 GP run?
He was a smart fighter who over achieved by holding guys against
the cage
. That again happening in the ring.

Lol.. Chuck was king of the UFC the second time they fought. He was 36 FYI and this was really the second time he had been KOd... Chuck just wasn't as good as the PRIDE guys during his great run. Chucks slide didn't really start until after be beat Wandy... It is easy to think Chuck was the best lhw during his UFC championship run... But he wasn't and all really mma fans during that time knew it.
