The UK gets UFC Fight Night 26

The UFC is moving forward on a likely Nov. 5 event expected to take place in Birmingham, England.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has confirmed with event sources that the show, likely to be dubbed UFC Fight Night 26, could be the first overseas edition of the Spike TV event series.
Although not official, the event is expected to take place at the 16,000-seat LG Arena at the National Exhibition Centre.
Rather than UFC Fight Night 26, the event could be dubbed UFC 138 (which would make a Nov. 19 event, which is headlined by Cain Velasquez vs. Junior Dos Santos, UFC 139 rather than UFC 138). Regardless, the Nov. 5 event is expected to air on Spike TV via same-day delay.
To date, the UFC has hosted just one show in Birmingham. UFC 89, which took place at National Indoor Arena in October 2008, drew 9,515 attendees and featured a headliner between Michael Bisping and Chris Leben. The tape-delayed Spike TV broadcast peaked with 3.4 million viewers and averaged 2.6 million.
To date, all 24 of the UFC Fight Night events have taken place in the U.S., and the 25th is scheduled for New Orleans on Sept. 17.
The UFC hasn't host a show of any type in the U.K. since October 2010. The event, UFC 120, took place in London and aired via same-day delay on Spike TV.
No fights currently are rumored for the UFC Fight Night 26 event.

I see where you're coming from, but we're at the point where we don't care who is fighting. We just want a UFC event, and that's going to be evident by how freaking pumped we're going to be even though we're getting a Fight Night.
It COULD be a numbered event, but I'd prefer it to be a Fight Night simply because the upcoming numbered events are so stacked, the lower end of the divisions aren't getting fights. I'll take 11 fights involving guys like Cole Escovedo and Brad Tavares then with one big headliner right now if it means we get a fight card and don't have to stay up until 5am to watch it live.

Anything is better than nothing. I would have preferred them to have come to Liverpool at the Echo Arena though. At least if it stays away from being a numbered event we are less likely to get a Bisping fight.

im sure the big issue with bringing the ufc to the uk this years was something to do with the dates because of events booked elsewhere it was hard to fit one in, could be wrong
and the echo arena as the comedian lee evans 2-4th nov and the its the wwe 3 days later.. UFC in any arena will do me just glad for it to be over here

I want to see Terry Etim back in the octagon as well. He could face off against George Sotiropoulos. That would be an interesting match-up.

He did say on his twitter he was hoping to to find out when hes going to fight soon not so long back, i think any fight for terry etim at the moment could be interesting with such a lay off

Did Jason young get cleared? I know he got a pretty long medical suspension after the Poirier fight, but I'd like to see him on this card as well, Sass also...its been too long since his UFC debut. All I remember was he got a deep cut on his foot from glass that kept him from fighting in March. We need another Sass-angle!

Hardly, they're the exact same thing but one detail has changed.
We were originally getting UFC Fight Night 26, then it was decided we were getting UFC 138. Either way, both threads would've been about the UFC coming to the UK. Merge them, change the topic title, we're well away.

We were originally getting UFC Fight Night 26, then it was decided we were getting UFC 138. Either way, both threads would've been about the UFC coming to the UK. Merge them, change the topic title, we're well away.

Its not that big of a deal, one is a thread talking about the event being in UK. The other is just like any other fight announcement thread that I or anyone makes
