Latest words from Thiago Alves before the fight against Georges St. Pierre at UFC 100 next Saturday.
“I will knock St-Pierre out, don’t doubt it. Many people have been commenting that I’m saying it for arrogance or nervousness but it isn’t that at all. I say this because it is my big deal, everything I always wanted was to be the best. My mental level now is calmness. I don’t have any pressure to say or not say something. I know what I want and I will get to knock Georges out” said Alves today.

Anyone else find he looks a bit like Mike Tyson? lol
Back to the topic, he certainly looks like he's ready after watching the Countdown... but I am still backing GSP here. And I don't think it will go to a decision.

Alves loses this in cardio department. Third or 4th round beatdown when he gasses from GSP's GnP assault. A panic-striken Parysian took him down and kept him there for a round. Matt Hughes, who shoots from the outside with no set up AT ALL, took him down and kept him there for a large portion of the round. Koscheck didn't even try until he was rocked. The best take downs in the business will get the job done and all that muscle will tire easily when GSP puts it to him with some of the best top control in MMA.
A huge left hook or a knee timed PERFECTLY are Thiago's best hope. Could they happen? Sure, but I wouldn't bet on it.
