That's right....my man is back. I got alot of sh*t from you guys back in January when he got his a$$ handed to him by Machida. But he bounced back last night with a dominant performance over Jardine. And yes, i know KJ is the gatekeeper of the lhw division, but Thiago steamrolled.
He's just a beast. And he looked leaner than he did against Machida. He does have a tendency to stalk guys and stand right in front of you. I'd like to see him use some more kicks and better footwork.
So whats next for him?
Tito Ortiz- good wrestling vs good jitz
Forrest Griffin- a guarenteed brawl. FOTN written all over it
Shogun-A real test for each guy
Rashad-another good wrestler with power...another war
Anyone still think Thiagos overrated? A loss to the best lhw shouldnt kill your rep.
"I'm tellin ya...that's a violent dude right there"
i think since he made jardine look like a weird awkward half mentally challenged guy last night people are now guna start questiong jardine legitamacy as an opponent and cut down this win like the AS forest fight were people started saying it wasn't a legit win because people decided since AS made him look silly he f---ing sucks but i still give credit to Thiago Silva hes got some skills
I've been on the bandwagon for a long time, i hated that he lost to Machida and like usual everybody tried to dissect all his prior wins and justify that he actually wasn't any good. He has one loss to the undefeated now champion and has dominated everybody else.
On a side note... i am no longer a Vera fan... i held on for years waiting for the dominant striker to return but after last night i've completely traded in my pass to that bandwagon.... :x
I respect Jardine overall but he does better against tentative fighters.
Bum rushing the guy with MT skills worked well for Houston Alexander and Wanderlei Silva, so last night's result didn't surprise me.

yeah, I agree Jak. I kept hearing how he hadn't fought anyone and how Mendes rocked him with a head kick. And there are some that will still say that Jardine isn't any better than his previous opponents.
I think he's now in line to start fighting the who's who of the lhw division. He's clearly not ready for a Machida rematch (who is?), but id love to see him fight Tito next.

They didn't surprise me, but Jardine is one odd fellow. He loses to guys like Wanderlei and Alexander, but tees off on guys like Griffin and Vera and goes 3 competitive rounds with Rampage...
What the h*ll is wrong with him? It's supposed to be the other way around, you're supposed to beat the guys on losing streaks and lose to guys on winning streaks..
Calm down with the Jardine bashing. You guys are jumping way overboard on this guy. Jardine is a great fighter but doesn't have the best chin. He has 3 knockout losses and because they were all highlight reel losses, you act as if the guy has lost 45 fights. This is a guy that went toe to toe with Rampage, was the 4th person in history to beat Chuck Liddell and he clobbered Forrest Griffin and made us forget who Brandon Vera was.
For the record, Thiago did not STEAMROLL Jardine. They had a competitive fight while it lasted. Just because a fight doesn't go multiple rounds doesn't make it a steamroll. Jardine threw flurries of strikes and a vicious kick at the beginning. People talk about how good Silva is on the ground and Jardine was able to stand up without any problems. He got caught like a lot of fighters do.
Thiago was very impressive last night. He didn't allow himself to intimidated by Jardine's aggressiveness and that was a major factor. Congratulations to the guy, but he didn't really do anything that was dominant.
I don't think anyone is saying KJ sucks. I think most people agree he's a gatekeeper, but yeah, he hung in tough with Page, looked good against Chuck and Vera. His style is just not suited for aggressive fighters.
Maybe "steamrolled" was too rough. How bout "DISMANTLED"? I'm not sure what else you can say about a 90 second fight.
KJ landed a kick to open the fight. The next time he tried a kick Thiago timed it perfectly and swept his back leg.
KJ has a great resume, but to say he's been inconsistent is an understatement.

I'd say that is a very fair and accurate description.
Personally, I was thrilled when KJ was knocked on his a$$. But this thread isn't about him. I've been a long time fan of Thiago and was happy to see him make a comeback last night. Can't wait for his next fight, I'll be in his corner!!!

My daughter thinks that Jardine looks like a really big and scary pedo leprechaun.
Apparently she doesn't think that about GSP.
