Anderson Silva:
Yushin Okami: no fights in 9 months
Vitor Belfort: No fights in 16 months and coming off an injury
Light Heavyweight:
Jon Jones beats Shogun who hadn't fought 10 months and coming off an injury
shogun beats Lyota machida who hadn't fought in 6 months and coming off an injury
Heavy:
Cain Valasquez will have not fought in 13 months and coming off an injury
Frankie and Maynard only fighting each other this year
GSP doesn't fight too often
I don't think we have seen the best possible match ups due to injuries and lay offs but I also don't think much would have changed in these fights.

good thinkin bro lets just let guys fight while injured. It does get really annoying though when Champions only defend twice a year though

how often do you want them to defend it?
the timing will always be the most difficult part, Nick Diaz fought 2x by April, then GSP defended in May needed to get healed plus 3-4month camp which leads you to October.
Defending 2x a year is a perfect amount for me

3 times most can look at anderson vs okami. Okami hasn't fought since late 2010 and anderson fought in early February and took zero damage. This one is most likely due to them wanting it to be in rio. Gsp is getting 6 months for this title fight and diaz 7 is that really necessary neither had anything close to a serious injury.

3x in a year is tough. Cruz will be doing this year. (Jorgenson 12/10, Faber 7/11, and Johnson 10/11)

3 months is a good training camp, pretty much full. A month for injuries 3x a year should be fine. Too many guys drinking pussitus and not fighting enough.

good point outs Junkie! makes sense because theres no way a fighter will be the same after an injury i will make an exeption to Rashad because it was a minor injury and he looked like he had taken no time off the gym he was chizzled ripped, then again that wasent a title shot

+1 that insurance crap has a lot to do with it but i would prefer to see a fighter fight at his best to avoid lame excuses

I agree we haven't seen the best possible match up due to injury. But some of the blame has to fall on the fans and who go for the fighters the UFC hypes after a big win, and the majority buy it. *Dan Hardy
