Check this out. Talks about his current situation, saying he's not getting younger and basically willing to fight for whoever is paying most is where he'll be.

He's contracted to BAMMA just now, and fought a couple of weeks ago there, but he's on a 3 fight winning streak & has only lost once in 12 fights, so he could end up on the reported Liverpool card in September.

I think it's been discussed but his grappling is not ready for that division yet,he's a top notch striker, more notably his boxing but he keeps on getting dumped on his back off non wrestlers, and if he would fight the likes of Munoz,Weidman,Sonnen and Palhares it would be easy pickings for them guys, however if he keeps on training overseas with the likes of GSP and Rory McDonald, and continuing to improve we could see him within a year cos his striking is very good,as seen against Ninja Rua who although he was coming to the end of his career, was still a polished performance with his devastating leg kicks, kicking a noted kicker until he couldn't stand no more, leaving him with a huge lump on his leg,
before he knocked him out.
He never gets finished when he gets taken down but the UFC's 185 division probably has the best wrestlers,I possibly could be mistaken but he seriously needs to improve his tdd and submissions off his back before hes ready for a UFC contract but there's potential there.

Why would he go straight in to fight the top fighters? Tom Watson is not a top fighters, but there are many middleweights there that he'd be able to beat.

You can argue that Watson and Patrick Cote(4-0 now since release) have earned their way at 185. If Watson hadn't dropped a decision to JT Money he'd probably be in the UFC now. Watson is going to have problems with top wrestlers.

I know, but we all know that it only takes 2 or 3 wins to get a top 10 opponent in the UFC,and with the likes of Sonnen,Munoz,Bisping,Weidman,Palhares,Okami,Boetsch,IMO at this moment in time he gets dominated off all of those guys on the ground, but like I said if he still continues to improve his tdd and training, still with Rashad too he's bound to get the contract,
There's some good striking based fights for him though I would like to see with Leben,Phillopou,Belcher and maybe Belfort but Vitor could be put in the wrestling bracket if he wants.

The same if he went to strikeforce too,he competes well with Lawler but would get dominated off Kennedy and Rockhold on the mat.

John Maguire is in the UFC now, and won his debut, setting up a meeting with DaMarques Johnson. Maguire got TKO'd by Watson for the inaugural BAMMA MW title at the first BAMMA card, so I can't see why Watson can't get a spot on the undercard at the very least.

Probably to due to money. Watson will want much more than a normal undercard guy.

He needs to realise that he biggest victories have come against Alex Reid, who was out for 18 months, and Ninja Rua, who was past his best and retired immediately after. He has also lost to Jesse Taylor, so he needs to understand the level his could compete at. He wouldn't even be the premier British MW in the UFC if he was signed.

The thing is, BAMMA and other smaller promotions will pay him more than the UFC undercard fighters generally get. The UFC would not pay him what he gets from those promotions just to put him on the undercard.

Yeah the undercard fight purses in the UFC are garbage and small shows pay way more, even journeymen boxers get more than some of the top UFC fighters sometimes.
Another thing with Watsons situation is he's fighting in a British organisation,so won't get the world class wrestling and bjj training that he desperately needs all of the time but if he did get in the UFC he'll be able to make the move permanent so he could be sparring and training with his friends like,Rashad and GSP etc all of the time,a bit like Bisping,Hardy and Ross Pearson has now done,so naturally he might get better a lot quicker on his grappling where he will be a force over time.

Kong for UFC?
Does anybody know if Tom 'KONG' Watson is close to joining the UFC. At Bamma 9 (where he defended his title) The commentator said he was in talks with the UFC. I'm curious if anybody knows anything about it? Also do you think he deserves to be in the UFC?

Re: Kong for UFC?
I thought this may have been a card announcement in China coming up.
I missed it, (BAMMA 9) , but I've heard that the "Poster Boy", (BAMMA 8) was also in talks with the UFC, and nothings come of it so far. I think most of the fighters at the top of their prospective promotions are "in talks" with the UFC. It is what it is.
But no, haven't heard myself, yet.
