MMAWeekly
An injury has forced Dennis Hallman out of his UFC on Fox 3 bout against Ultimate Fighter winner Tony Ferguson. In to replace him will be Brazilian Thiago Tavares.
Sources confirmed the new bout to MMAWeekly.com on Friday. Tatame.com first reported the switch.
Currently riding a two-fight win streak, Tavares found a comfort fighting back home in Brazil where he’s picked up those back-to-back wins.
At UFC 134 last year, Tavares TKO’d the always tough Spencer Fisher, and then returned to his home land in January at UFC 142 where he picked up a unanimous decision over Sam Stout.
Now Tavares will face former Ultimate Fighter winner Tony Ferguson who is undefeated since winning the reality show last year.
The fight between Tavares and Ferguson will be on the undercard for the UFC on Fox 3 event airing on May 5 from the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J.

I'm, taking Ferguson in this one, he has pretty decent TDD and heavy hands. Thiago is gonna have to close the distance quick if he doesn't wanna eat a nasty uppercut on the way in.

This is a much better fight for Tony. Hallman was very underrated and would have took Tony down and submitted him. Tavares isn't a strong enough wrestler so Tony keeps it on the feet and wins by decision. Or Tavares uses his improved striking to beat a striker(like with Sam Stout)

I agree with this for the most part, but I also believe that Tavares is a MUCH better striker than Hallman.
I still like the match-up better for Tony because I think he can keep the fight on the feet and possibly finish Tavares.

I want to see more of those upper cuts that Ferguson was throwing. they were awesome. i thought he lost the Edwards fight by a slim margin, but he's certainly been game for veteran fighters.
i'd also like to see Tavares actually put a good streak together, he always seems to fault just when he's building momentum, hopefully the Roller fight will be the last one for a bit or he'll turn into Guillard.
