JDS is better boxer. Overeem is the better striker.

I think Aldo's striking is better than both, but I honestly haven't seen that many Overeem fights, so I could be wrong.

I think it gets interesting for the next 4 spots. Reem has the the best pedigree, Machida has the most polish, JDS is the power, Aldo/Cruz the speed and accuracy, Diaz/Shogun has the aggressive, relentless style going on... You could make a good argument for all of them at the two spot.

Gotta say Aldo. Then Junior. Then someone who needs to be on this poll, Jon Jones. Yeah, his striking isn't polished much, but it's damn effective with that reach, and he's stood with Rampage and Shogun and dominated both.
Overreem's striking is incredibly overrated.

I'm surprised nobodys said Sonnen yet, since he beat Anderson standing supposedly.....
I agree with Knippz.

I still think that the rib injury affected Anderson's game quite a bit that night, hopefully we'll find out whether or not that is true in a rematch.

I voted for Jose Aldo. Creative, explosive, powerful, precision, good combinations, very complete in the striking department. Also barelly gets hit, and doesn't seem to feel the ones he receive.

Think of what he could do if he actually threw kicks.

Is GSP going to be on every poll?

Everything Aldo throws is pretty accurate from punches, knees, elbows & kicks there always on target, so he gets the number 2 spot IMO.

I think you need to find another word than "unanimously" as not every single person voted for Anderson Silva last time. Whoever wins an overwhelming majority wins each round, there is no unanimous winner.

Despite how I assume most people will vote, I don't think Alistair Overeem has proven he is a top striker in MMA. Who cares if Alistair Overeem won the K1 tournament when it comes to talking about his MMA striking. That is a completely different sport. All Fabricio Werdum had to do was flop on his back anytime he was in danger to render the Reem's strikes ineffective. The best Strikers can take it to their opponents, keep the fight standing because that's where their want it, and if the fight does go to the floor be able to throw down some brutal ground and pound (which is also striking). I'll give #2 to Jose Aldo.
I also think Jon Jones deserves a spot on the next poll. Spinning back elbows? Aw yeah.

You need more choices on there. The first 3 that come to mind are Jon Jones, Rampage, and Wanderlei. No, none of them will be #2 but top 10 possibly. You've got Cung Le there and Wanderlei just beat Cung Le in a standup fight. Rampage beat Wanderlei in a standup fight. Jones beat Rampage in a mostly standup fight. Sorry for the MMMath but here I think it's applicable.
Also, there's a video of JDS doing the Showtime kick in practice.

That MMMath is pretty legit, but it's really hard to gauge where Jones is in comparison because of that huge reach in my opinion.
Edit: His striking is most definitely creative and fantastic, but how much of the fantastic remains when you remove the obscene reach?

I don't even think that is a fair question. His reach is part of what makes his striking hard to deal with. That is like asking where would Machida be without his elusiveness, where would Aldo be without his speed, where would Overeem be without his power? That is what makes them the best strikers in the world.

Yes, but all the things you just named can be developed to an extent. I realize you cannot drastically improve any of these areas over a period of time that is anything less than years, but they can be improved.
You cannot make your arms longer.
Edit: That's why we have weight classes, because size DOES matter. I don't think Jones is a better striker than Anderson Silva, but if Jones somehow dropped to MW and got a title shot could he beat Silva in a straight up striking contest? The reach makes this an interesting question.

I include reach in the equation - he uses it effectively with his striking game. He's also getting pretty damn accurate with those strikes too. There's an enormous gap between him and Anderson, but as far as effectiveness goes, Jones is top 5 right now.
