Welcome to the first installment of Triple M, a new Junkie Idol series that features MMA, Movies, and Music topics. For those new to the Junkie games, any category relevant to these topics will be fair game. Each round I will present a category, and you will private message me your submission relevant to that category, usually in the form of a video clip and a write up. I will gather all the submissions and present it to the judges without any identifications. Judges will score the submissions on a scale of 10.

This year elimination system will be different from past seasons. We will have 3 preliminary rounds to determine the top 8 players to advance to the quarterfinals. The top 8 will be ranked and seeded based on their performances in the prelims. They will be matched up head to head 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5, until we end up with the 2 finalists. Prize will be $300 and the first ever Triple M Junkie title.

Round 1
"MMA in Movies/TV"

Pick a scene from a movie or show that has the most accurate depiction of MMA, based on technique or lack of technique.
+2 bonus if the movie or show does not fall into the Martial Arts genre according to imdb.com
+2 bonus if the scene has a musical score that the judges like or think enhances the scene

Players can choose from the same movies, but can't pick the same scene. You get to reserve 1 pick at a time.
Let's make this due next Mon. 5/25. Anyone can still join this game during this Round 1, I just need your submission to make it official.
Anyone who needs clarification don't be afraid to ask.

When you say IMDB, you mean the list rhat comes up next or above the movie? Like the pic shown?

@thedarkwingduck2k11

So are the judges going to be required to search for our submissions using advanced search on IMDB and filtering to "Movies" in the "Martial Arts" subgenre in regards to the 2 bonus pts? My submission is not on that list, but if you go to the main page for the movie, a synopsis has "martial arts" tag (I think those are actually user-written). Can we get a bit of clarity on that?

I would suggest you make the judges job as easy as possible to score you high points 😉

Having 2nd thoughts...
Define "mma technique "?
E.g. if the scene is heavy Muy Thai or if the scene is heavy wrestling/grappling, does that count? Or does it need to be blended, striking & ground game to count as MMA?

Well, those 2 bonus points should be an objective thing. If you order the list I spoke of by the user score of the submission, it doesn't take long to find.

I would hope it's just an aspect of MMA that's required to open up the possibilities for submissions.

I don't know .. hmmm ..

What should a scenen of MIXED MARTIAL ARTS contain? Hmmm... Real stumper there.

Well I'd say you're wrong. An aspect of MMA is just a MA (Martial Art). You need a MIXING of MARTIAL ARTS to qualify for MMA. Hence the very name. Which I always thought was self explanatory.

Until now.

Ffs, I can already tell this is gonna be a truly amazing season ,🤦‍♂️

Let me simplify this for you.
Is 1 aspect of MMA good enough, or should it be multiply aspects of MMA to be considered an MMA scene or scenen as you put it?

True, but hopefully won't be graded to harshly if it's just a little of one thing and a lot of another. Otherwise everyone just needs to pick scenes from a few different movies available.
