Now assuming Overeem does not get licenced (which I'd bet everything he won't). I believe the UFC should pull Dos Santos from the card and have him fight Werdum in Brazil at UFC 147. Go with Mir vs Velasquez as the main event at 146, which is still a great card with great prelims that could easily be on the main card. That would set up a supercard in Brazil. Can you imagine the card
Sonnen vs Silva 2
Dos Santos vs Werdum 2
Wandy vs Belfort 2
Would be incredible!! Plus pulling Dos Santos from 146 give both fighter enough time to prepare.
For me Werdum is the obvious choice as well. He holds a win over Overeem and IMO beat Overeem in their 2nd fight too. He was the first guy to beat Fedor and he's just looked incredible against Nelson.
I would love to see the UFC do this but it looks like they are going with Mark Hunt which is pathetic.
For me a UFC 147 supercard makes sense and would not take away much if anything from 146. What do you think?

Even if there is controversy in the loss to Overeem (I'm not sure how anybody could think Werdum won the fight), Werdum is still 1-1 in his last two and his only win is against Roy Nelson who is very tough in his own right, but not elite. I say they give Dos Santos some time off and let the winner of Cain/Mir fight for the belt at a later event.

A lot of people think Werdum won that fight!! I agree though that if they don't give the fight to Werdum they should pull Dos Santos regardless and have him fight Mir or Cain.

Yea I love this idea (which you got from my thread lol) the battle of rematches. This would be one of the biggest cards of the year if they can pull it off.

If the UFC doesn't want Hunt as their champion, then i believe a Werdum "redemption rematch" would be the most fitting.

If you add JDS vs Werdum to Rio, you get 0 more buys.
If you take JDS vs ??? off of 146 you lose probably well over 100k buys.
Terrible business sense.

Werdum holds wins over Reem, Bigfoot, and Fedor. Not a tuff sell by any means.

Junior could be pulled, but I really hope not. I don't even care who he fights to be honest, just put together an entertaining fight. i don't care if it's Werdum, Fedor, Hunt, Hendo(etc). Given the circumstances, it doesn't matter if the match makes sense or not. I don't want to wait to see him fight any longer..it's been too long as is.

I see your point but I don't care how much more money the UFC would make besides if you set up that megacard I think it would do a lot more buys and there's no way they'd lose 100k buys on 146, it's still a great card

You may not care, but the UFC cares.
I mean I could sit here and makeup lets move JDS vs Fedor to M-1 and copromote with the UFC. Makes terrible business sense, but if I want to see it, then screw it, lets post a thread about it and say thats good enough.

There is no way you pull JDS off 146. He is a draw in the US (and HW champion of course) so they are going to want to keep using him here. If anything the UFC would put him on the 148 card instead. Besides, the UFC love to use those non-US cards to showcase the young homegrown talent. You just don't need huge names to sellout Brazil cards, just Brazilians.

And you already have Wandy, Vitor, and Anderson on that card.

I highly doubt this will happen and if it does it won't be at 147. It's too big of a fight to not be a main event.

If Overeem is in fact out, i really hope the UFC treats us like real fans. I think we'd be far more understanding if they said "we lost a big fight, but we wanna keep JDS active, so we're gonna give him ______ to fight and the fight after that will be the next big HW title fight. sorry guys."
i'd rather see JDS fight someone like Hunt or Hendo, just for the fun of it, then getting force fed a replacement for Overeem. Maybe i'm in the minority, but i'd be fine with JDS fighting a non title fight to keep busy.
When Jones was replaced by Ortiz last year, it was fine... until they tried selling Ortiz as being back in the mix... :?

How could you possibly think Werdum won that second fight with Overeem? The only thing he did was hitting Overeem with weak punches and pull guard after he got hit. I have zero interest in JDS vs Werdum II because it's gonna be JDS vs Werdum all over again if Werdum tries to stand with JDS or it's gonna be Overeem vs Werdum II the buttflopping snoozefest all over again.
Werdum does not have the takedowns to take the fight to the ground.

I'm sorry but this is retarded. JDS vs Werdum would go the same way as Werdum vs Reem, a guy terrified of strikers pulling guard. Also Werdum is 1:1 in his last 2 fights. The ufc has been building this as the biggest HW card of all time so their not going to pull the title fight. Rio doesn't need another title fight anyway, Silva vs Sonnen will do 1 million buys imo, Rashad Rampage did and this rivalry is even bigger. It would also significantly hurt 146's buyrate, Mir is not a big draw, look at his fight with cro cop and Cain's 60 second KO on national tv hurts him too, especially to the casuals. Finally the UFC is not going with Mark Hunt, no chance at all.
