Who is the most worked up failure UFC has ever produced? You know take the money to market them and turn them into the best in the world or gonna takeover the division only to flop and fizzle?

Kimbo Slice and the Kimbo Carrot,
a whole season of TUF 10
was devoted to the Kimbo carrot. :?

Definately Kimbo. Biggest joke in MMA to contender. Even after his loss to Nelson on the show, people were expecting him to come back and win the season. There were several threads about him dropping to LHW and being a contender/future champ.

Ouch.. I agree though they really tried to make him look worthy of his title shot and it sold lots of tickets. BUT it's a damn shame GSP didn't finish him since we've seen it since. Alexander was a good one too he came in and caught two quick wins if he'd of beat irvin we might have seen him against the likes of rampage or Thaigo Silva instead he loses and then talks himself up against the other best hype job and leaves everyone scratching their heads.

the funny thing is kimbo only went full time to MMA after getting the s*** scared out of him by watching badr hari smash fools in the 08 k1 gp. after hari vs zimmerman you can just hear the tone of kimbo like "errr uhhhhh......nevermind on doing that k1 stuff"

I don't think UFC really hyped Kimbo up, but rather got on board with his internet/celebrity/freakshow stardom. They knew a lot of people wanted to see him fight, so they edited the show to seem like he would be returning. I don't think they ever promoted him as this beast who was going to wreck people up left and right.

ha I forgot that. he sure did get done up by thiago.
I think Machida is a good example. EXCEPT I wouldn't say he flopped or fizzled he did have the title. BUT they made a big deal about the Karate and the "elusiveness". Now he's another contender in a talented field and doesn't look so "unbeatable"

I dont think the UFC Hyped Kimbo Slice Really At ALL. The Fans Are responsible for that one.
The Fans Are Responsible for tons of fighters, the UFC Hypes some guys, but guys like Brock, Kimbo, and Freak Shows hyped themselves.
Guys that are obviously Horrible Now would be the definition to hype I suppose so...
Whoever Said Houston Alexander was pretty accurate.
I on the other-hand Have my own opinions about fighters and think fighters whom may think are good I find highly overrated.
I have been called an MMA snob or Hipster, but I guess I am, dont care, I still think my view is right, and when the dust settles im usually hittin the nail on the head.
The Jake Shields Hype Job was pretty rediculous In My opinion, I think the work they are doing with this JBJ machine is rediculous as well. Hype is someone being deemed greater than they really are, and JBJ is far from the hype surrounded by him, and I think in 1-2 matches he will get exposed. Any fan could claim anyone as Overrated. Even A.Silva, people could say he really hasnt fought anyone that was solid on the ground and wanted to hold him down that could actually defend a submission. We will see against Okami.
I think some guys are under-hyped to extend other fighters hype.
Carlos Condit gets overlooked I think because they are protecting gsp, but thats my little conspiracy. Even thou I believe that Condit could do way more tickets if they would hype him. His highlights are so much better than GSP's

Naw... I don't agree with that. He is still in the title picture and many believe he will get the title back.

Yeah when he first started out in the UFC his first few fights went to the judges, but a think everyone knew he was a real talent just waiting to burst out, his fighting styles always going to have him in the title picture.
Nominated for KO of the year
Knocking Rashad out the way he did everyones going to remember that
And finishing a very tough Thiago Silva with a brutal KO

yup out of all the ones everyone has mention he is the only one to get a title shot
and to get a title shot is a MAJOR push
but the main one is Dana's "new breed of HW" everytime I think of that line and all the people that argued for that like crazy makes me laugh   NEW BREED

UFC didn't really hype Kimbo. His hype came from EliteXC and YouTube. All UFC did was gave him a chance, and complimented his work ethic a few times. They never built him up to be something he wasn't.
Houston Alexander on the other hand though. They hyped the hell out of him, and tried to make him a standup god, but he failed.
