I wouldn't say they're "fighting" for naming rights. They're bidding for naming rights, it's pretty easy to get if they just offer the most money.

They're not bidding, either.
They're creating a photo op and buzz around the naming rights. None of these people will bid for the rights; they're helping MGM sell those rights to people not even in this picture...

I doubt UFC is actually trying to have the arena named after itself. Just keeping itself connected with the arena. The names to arenas always goes to major corporations that want the advertising that way, like Barclays. Any promotion gets the lifetime advertising by simply holding events in the arena, creating history there. Every time I walk into MSG, I see posters of iconic events that happened there. From concerts, circus, pro wrestling, boxing etc.
