doing an estimated 7,755,000 buys (and given most of the numbers are first estimates, and that the nature of domestic PPV is numbers will usually increase 8-12% from the original estimate, the number could very conceivably approach 8.5 million. Using the 7,755,000 figure, that would mean a $349 million PPV gross. The all-time record for a single company was set last year by UFC of an estimated $283 million. The all-time record for boxing was set in 2007 at $255 million, while the all-time record for pro wrestling was set by WWE in 2001 at $260 million.
What is most amazing about this is that if it wasn’t for extremely bad luck, that figure would have been significantly higher. Losing the Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin fight from UFC 106 cost the company 500,000 buys, and you could argue more. Losing Quinton Jackson vs. Rashad Evans from UFC 107 cost 300,000 buys, and perhaps more.
UFC 100, headlined by Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir, ended up as the fourth biggest PPV event in history, trailing only boxing matches with Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather, Mike Tyson vs. Evander Holyfield and Tyson vs. Lennox Lewis. UFC topped the 500,000 mark six times in its 13 PPV shows of the year, the same number of times as last year."

you're such a tard. it's because strikeforce signed king mo, mousasi and hendo. and because of bad stoppages and because of cecil peoples
allo of this clearly has a negative effect on the sales.

You forgot the part about Dana being an idiot, ruining mma, mistreating fighters, not knowing anything about running a company etc. etc....
It's all Dana fault! Just ask all the haters.

Of course they did, this is why they should fold, they're terrible at what they do and i predict every other organization will easily surpass them by mid 2010.
They need to get rid of Dana White, he's never done anything for the sport and just feeds off the luck of the Ultimate Fighter success even though he was originally against it. He needs to go or MMA will never be popular.
The only way the UFC will succeed is if the cross promote, imagine that Aoki vs. Penn, Fedor vs. Lesnar, Mousasi vs. Machida... that's almost enough match ups to start a thread about, UFC vs. Strikeforce match ups!
Strikeforce has all the up and comers and the UFC is just signing has beens? what's up with that? just because if Gomi had gone to SF it would have been another great signing, by him going to the UFC he must be old and past his relevance. Just because nobody gives credit when young guys like Phil Davis get signed, when Paul Daley came over know one cared, when Bang Ludwig comes back for 108 again nobody cares, but yeah... the UFC are just signing terrible fighters like Baroni, even though he did his job and highlighted Amir Sadalloh, or Trigg who helped Koscheck get back on track for a title shot....
UFC puts on shows with Griffin/Ortiz as the headliner, what's up with that? i would easily watch a Strikeforce under card instead of paying $60 to the evil Dana White(even though i watch it with my friends and only costs me $10... but i digress).
2010 is the year of Strikeforce, UFC will be a forgotten memory by years end.

I think Lesnar missing out for a year is equal to 3 fights he could of had, that at least 700,000 ppv per fight, thats more 2 million ppv they are missing out.
I think the Rashad/Rampage it if was done right after TUF it would of been at least 1,000,000 buys, it is one of the biggest fights the UFC can put on, I think when it happens it will be around that amount of buys.
but missing Rampage and Lesnar thats over 3,000,000 ppv they are short.
Lesnar was originally was going to fight in 106 and without Lesnar did low, I dont know the exact number, and thats with two of the UFC's biggest names. lets see how much 108 does with Thiago instead of Rampage againts Rashad.
Imagine how the UFC would of done with those guys

Feb - Nog vs Velasquez/Bisping vs Wanderlei
March - Vera vs Jones (UFC debut on versus)
March - GSP vs Hardy/ Carwin vs Mir/ Fitch vs Alves
April - Anderson Silva vs Vitor Belfort/ Rampage vs Rashad(Likely)
May - Machida vs Shogun 2
And that's the 1st 5 months of the year.
B.J. Penn's umpcoming title defense. A Possible showdown between GSP and Anderson at the end of the year.
