Toronto has won the day for the UFC's next excursion into Canada.
After the promotion considered events in the Ontario capital as well as in Montreal, Quebec, which was the site of four previous (and lucrative) shows, Toronto's Air Canada Centre will host host UFC 140 on Dec. 10 .
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today confirmed the event location with sources close to negotiations. ESPN first reported it.
UFC 140 is the organization's second trip to Toronto; the first was the record-breaking UFC 129 event, which took place in April at Rogers Centre and drew 55,724 fans for a live gate take of $12.075 million gate ($11.5 million Canadian). The event shattered the previous North American MMA records set by UFC 124, which drew a reported 23,152 fans to the Bell Centre in Montreal for a reported live gate of $4.6 million.
Currently, no rumored bouts are rumored for UFC 140.
One of the longest holdouts in regulating MMA, Ontario held its first sanctioned event on April 2, which featured London, Ontario native and WEC vet Chris Horodecki and recent UFC signee Jordan Mein.

Chad JOHNSON ought to worry more about why the Bungles are so horrible, and less time about calling out GSP.
Serious note, why the ACC, and not the SkyDome? Does Dana expect to announce a card that isn't going to be as EPIC as 129 was? In any event, I can't flippin' wait for the return of UFC to Tronna!

I know, I know, I know. It was more a preemptive post. But didn't GSP fight at 124 and then at 129 like 3-4 months later? I cant remember and TBH, im really to lazy to go to wiki to check it out. If he comes out unscathed its entirely possible that he could fight on that card and embarrass somebody else.

Welllllll, y'know, GSP hasn't fought in Vancouver yet...
The original rumours had 140 in Montreal, not Toronto. What happened to facilitate the change in cities?

Look at all the title fights coming up in the next couple of months. It's unlikely that any champion would be available for a title fight in December. It's unlikely that GSP, win or lose, will be available for the card. Brock? Who knows?
They just don't have the available talent to hold the event in a 55k seat stadium, unless they want massive empty sections. The ACC will hold about 20K fans, which is still a large venue for a UFC.

Lyoto Machida vs Tito/Rashad, Forrest/Shogun, Dan Henderson (hey, I can dream right? :mrgreen
or Phil Davis as a possible headliner? Mark Hominick is one name I'm thinking is also likely for this card.
Other Canadians I can think of (Although when I look at it quite a few were on Toronto's last card ha)
Mark Bocek
John Makdessi
Claude Patrick
Jesse Bongfeldt

Here's hoping they do a Stadium Card at the newly re-furbished B.C. Place Stadium in Vancouver, 2012.

I've got some friends that were hired to work on the roof installation. Judging by their stories, it won't be ready on time.

Huh, doesn't surprise me at all. They're saying the completion date should be Sept. 30/11 if all goes well. Your friends don't think it'll be ready by then, but not ready by 2012 and I would be surprised, wow !!
