Just saw this:
The Las Vegas Review-Journal is reporting that
UFC 200 will see some changes regarding weigh-in. According to the article, fighters are to be within 8% of the weight limit when they check in on Fight Week. It does not say the fight will be cancelled if it is not the case, but that the UFC would be doing daily check-ups on the fighter, including weight and vitals, and that if they are dehydrated, they will be pulled from the fight.
It also stated that the UFC now has a Fight Night room with approved food and beverages for fighters. In addition, the new UFC Health and Performance Center (Which is also where fighters will be able to rehab injuries for free) will include weight and nutrition specialists. They also apparently have
"introduced a system of data collection and athlete monitoring of weight and vital signs that will enable the organization to create a database to track and analyze information on each fighter."
I love the 8% program, but the UFC is almost certainly going to lose some bouts as many guys are cutting more than 8% and will show signs of dehydrating in the days before weigh-ins.

So their plan is to get rid of DC by pulling him due to dehydration, make Jones the full champ, and have Jones v Rumble as the main event for UFC 200?

You are giving Rumble to much credit to make weight!

I like this and so far fights won't be canceled if said fighter is over the threshold. I would assume a decent percentage of purse will be taken ...aka more than what is now with the commissions.

Interested to see how this plays out with the whole dehydration stuff. They'll have 6 eligible fighters by the time the card starts.
Pretty soon we should make a thread showing the fighters like Hendricks being all cracked out before the rule changes then an after. Kinda like Conor's weigh in photos from 145-170.

Good that they're going to be checking up on weight cuts, but it seems like they've given themselves every opportunity to not cancel fights. If you're going to have limits on weight cuts, make them limits fighters have to actually stick to.

Goofy rule. No need to over-regulate this, weight classes have been done the same way for decades in all kinds of sports with no problems.

Most fighters do this already. 8% is like 200lbs if you're a middleweight.

A lot of fighters enter fight week 20+ pounds over. There are LWs that enter the cage 180+. Ben Henderson was 0ver 180 when he was champ.

Most other sports don't have 185 pound guys competing at 155. Reducing dehydrating is a great thing as weight cutting has long term effects on the body.

College wrestling has taken major steps to reduce drastic weight cuts and boxing cutting is minor. Not sure where you see such massive cuts.
OneFC has regs to reduce it, the CSAC has regs to reduce it, the UFC is simply following the trend. I am all for it.

Do you not consider kidney failure and even death due to dehydration complications to be problems?
