Just seen this on the main page, I'm pissed off with this
How can they get away with announcing an event and then later changing who can go to it? I'm meant to be taking the kids to this, now I'm stuck with hotels, flights, tickets and everything organised and I can't even bloody go now.
Every other event up till now kids could go to, there was no indication there would be anything different here. I highly doubt Dana is going to refund anyone who now can't go because of this rule change...
f--- dana. I said before I wasn't going to go to live events any more, but I'm finished for sure now. I'm booked on a cheap airline, I can't even change the flight tickets to let anyone else use them.
If anyone wants to buy 3 event tickets and my Hilton reservation (for the friday and saturday) pm me - the Hilton only cost £15/night as my friend works for them.
Is there any sort of process for getting refunds? They've simply sold me something and moved the goalposts and made it no longer usable - I'm guessing there isn't, since I'm in UK, bought something from a USA company, and the event taking place in yet another country :x

Dana organised the event, its his job to make sure it goes smoothly etc. If the fans werent going to be allowed in he could have held it elsewhere...

I doubt it. It'll affect me way more than it'll affect him! He doesn't have two kids to tell their holiday is cancelled

I suppose a leisurely visit to Cologne (including the Chocolate Museum) won't amuse the kids...

Hehe without the UFC I don't think I'd want to make the trip. It'll just be like torturing them, taking them and letting them see everyone in the airport etc with the Dan Hardy t-shirts and affliction gear and they know they can't go. There isn't anything in Cologne to warrant taking the time and money to go I don't think.
I just ordered them UFC Undisputed 2009 for the xbox, I'll give them that and my own xbox console instead of taking them to the event.
Tubbz - I wrote to the UFC before via their website, I had a couple of specific questions about taking someone in a wheelchair to an event, and they never even got back to me so I doubt they will this time. I'll write a letter to them but don't expect a reply.

i wouldn't blame dana too much. its probably a bit like what happened in canada, then the banning of foot stomps.
because i read in a few german papers that some government officials did not want the ufc in koln, much less germany. a few called it barbaric, uncivilised, as well as unworthy of the german people. so i suspect that what may have happened was just good old plain government interference and dana/ufc had to comply with some stipulations.

Write them again and go to the event and try to get a hold of Dana and ask for your refund.

You realize that Dana didnt make this decision right? If anyplace should be issuing refunds its the people at the venue that made it this way. Bash Dana all you want, but this wasnt his call.

Let's see
Low Drinking age- OK
Legal Prostitution- OK
Disgusting Shyza(sp) porno- Fine
Professional Martial Artists engaging in a sanction fight with a referee to protect their safety- Barbaric and unfit for children.
Europe freaking sucks. The whole continent seems to cow tow to female supremacists and PC psycho babble.

My understanding was that having no kids there was the ONLY way Dana and the UFC could even hold the show in Germany...this has nothing to do with Dana. He could either a) Do what they say and develop the fan base further and show its not human cockfighting. b) Cancell the show and lose millions c) Try and reschedule it, and have to refund everyone that bought tickets and then hope to sell out (or decently) another venue.
And in reality...the MAJORITY or MMA fans are guys above the age of 18...so although Its annoying for you and im sure a few others...the vast majority dont really care.
And seriously, I can watch it on TV but I cant go to it? Somehow the violence is diminshed or less violent? Doesnt make ANY sense to me

I know that Dana White had nothing to do with it. But it would be nice to refund the tickets that were bought for minors. Image the publicity the UFC will get by doing this.

The correct people to 'blame' would be whatever government/athletic agency is in charge in germany. They are the ones who set the rules, not the UFC.
You can't really say the UFC should cancel the show and find a new location and screw over dozens of thousands of fans just so a small % of kids can go. It's not the best situation but ultimately it's the fault of the government in Germany. Hopefully you can send the ufc and email and they can compensate you somehow.
In my experience in going to MMA shows very few kids ever show up so I can understand why they wouldn't move the location just to accomendate a very small % of the crowd.

Its not Europe. Just Germany. History has shown that they are a pretty peaceful society. It shouldnt shock anyone that they want to keep their youth away from unarmed combat. sport or not.

The reason they are banned was b/c Pro Boxing still has a grip on things over there. They lobbied to try to get the UFC banned over there b/c they see it to a threat to the sport.
One thing I can't stand is a boxing guy whining about brutality in MMA. Haven't like 3-5 boxer's died or been in a coma this year because of being KO'd 2-3 times in a fight? They get KO'd say they are fine, then get KO'd again. Standing 8 count is more dangerous than anything in MMA.
**Funny thing is there were 3 year old kids at the WEC event in Chicago a couple months back.

Sounds poor planning. This the type of information that should have been decided before tickets were made available for sale.
I doubt it is Diana's fault as the more I see of Diana the more I realize the title of president is a token one.all he is now is what he has always wanted to be, a PR man.
He obviously sought approval from someone else in the UFC to get his vlogs back.
