Chuck definitely lost any semblance of a chin as he aged, but he took those headkicks like a champ.

seen this a while ago, I'm not a fan of bare knuckle fighting for many reasons.

Yeah the bare knuckle aspect makes it look so much more "barbaric"? Can't think of the right word but I don't really like seeing it.

Thanks for the post, I never seen this fight before. What a war. Crazy looking back when there were so few rules to the sport. Chucks hand wrappings were red by the end, looked like an 80s movie

This was the late 90s I believe and Pele used to flip between 170 and 185. Chuck to me really looked like a MW back then....

If LJ was 185, he was a really small 185 and Liddell still looked like a 205er there. He would have been 30 or close to it by then. Hell, Lidell fought at 205 just four months before this fight (UFC 17).
The only 'middleweight' fights for Chuck were in Pride. And their middleweight was the 205lb weight class.
Chuck might have been a 185er in high school, but by the time he started his pro MMA career at 28 or 29, he was a light heavyweight.

I think it the video it says the fight is at 90kg or 198lbs.

Yeah, I'm thinking Chuck was a notably bigger guy than Jose. Probably why Pele gassed so quickly during the clinches, trying to muscle around a larger wrestler.
