...cut by the UFC
http://www.mmafighting.com/2013/8/8/4601510/vinny-magalhaes-will-retire-if-cut-by-the-ufc-mma-news
Vinny Magalhaes said he deserved to get cut if he lost to Anthony Perosh at UFC 163, and his career might be over after a 14-knockout loss to the 40-year-old Australian.
Magalhaes, the former M-1 Global light heavyweight champion and The Ultimate Fighter Season 8 finalist, left his gloves inside the Octagon after the stunning loss. It could be the last time he stepped in a cage to fight.
"I have one more fight left in my contract, but we all know that it doesn’t mean much and there’s a chance that I get cut," Vinny told MSN. "Before this fight I said I deserved to get cut if I didn’t win. I’m waiting for UFC’s decision, anything can happen, but I really don’t care, man."
Magalhaes first stepped in the Octagon in 2008, suffering a first-round knockout loss to Ryan Bader on The Ultimate Fighter season 8 finale. Four months later, a decision loss to Eliot Marshall cost his contract. The Brazilian ended up signing with M-1 Global and became the light heavyweight champion, calling the attention of the UFC’s officials.
In his return to the Octagon, a second-round submission win over Igor Pokrajac improved his record to 10-5 (with 1 no-contest), but then he suffered back to back losses to Phil Davis and Anthony Perosh.
If the UFC decides to release him, he will retire.
"People say that the UFC doesn’t pay much to their fighters, but if you look to the other events it’s even worse," Magalhaes said. "So if they cut me, I don’t see why I should keep fighting in other event. I rather open my own gym than fight for little money. I stopped fighting in Jiu-Jitsu because of the financial part, so it would make no sense for me to return now. If the UFC doesn’t renew my contract, I’ll stop (fighting)."

Vinny will surely be cut by the UFC. He doesn't have to retire though, he just needs to train on the weaker parts of his game.

the guy imo, just can't take flush strikes. you can't teach that. but Vinny can do great as a grappling coach. he'd be a great addition to any MMA camp

I wouldn't be surprised if the UFC kept him for one more. But I also wouldn't be surprised if he was cut.

If you cant take flush strikes, you should probaly be working on your striking defense like a MotherF*cker! Don't rush in and put yourself in a bad situation.

It's possible the element of surprise wasent there against Perosh. If he was facing a striker then he would've been more wary, but Anthony is not a noted striker and he surprised and caught him(it happens)..Still no excuse for the loss mind you, you should always be prepared for everyone....
I say give him his fight, put him on the pre lims and see what happens. If he loses cut him, if he wins and wins well then let negotiations for a 3 fight deal begin...

there's guys in Nova Uniao that have suspect chins, but cause they always spar with quality strikers they learn to exchange while being cognizant of their defense. guys from the old Cute Boxe days learned to recover through sparring full force. those are ways to learn how to off set having a suspect chin. but no matter, what some fighters can never deal with taking a hard strike, or simply don't have the physical make up to be in a violent combat sport. from how Vinny always reacted to getting hit he seemed like he was already punch drunk, so he should retire cause he can't withstand the damage an MMA fighter takes no matter the training. incredible grappler though that any camp should try to get

I like Vinny. He's a tremendous grappler. But he's another guy that talks a big game and doesn't back it up.
I know he's a friend of Junkie and all, but he's been very disrespectful toward his opponents as well.

vinny's smack talk about perosh getting ko'd fast backfired when perosh ko'd him in like 10 seconds in front of his home country
i agree that he should prob retire though and focus on his grappling more, he was never a great mixed martial artist.

I'm sorry, I stopped reading at the "former M-1 Global light heavyweight champ" part.

I once saw a video of Vinny locked in a Werdum armbar for minutes at a Grappling event, he refused to submit no matter how much pain he was in. His ground game is great, but his striking game (offense/defense) needs much work.

Vinny is such a douche. i used to think he was funny but his pre fight talk before the Perosh fight just made him sound like a d--- and him getting KTFO right away was hilarious. its not often that i actually want someone to lose their job but this is one of the rare times i hope he gets cut

What did the perosh fight teach us? Not a whole lot, Vinny walked onto a shot. It happens.

If I had Vinny's looks, I would be a model or an actor. Why put yourself through all the rigors of MMA if you don't have to?

He's only been KO'd by Bader and Perosh. Perosh was a shocker but Bader was expected. His chin is very questionable.
His UFC rec is 1-4. 1 sub win, 2 decision losses and 2 bad KO losses.
I would like to see him in Metamoris. I dont think MMA is for him.
Remember when he lost his 2nd MMA fight VS The former president of the United States? Uni Dec
