I think he means he's lucky it KO'd him. He said the kick was amazing in another interview.

To add to this, if a guy with some of the best kicks in MMA, who is the P4P best fighter in the world, known for knocking people out in style, knocks you out with a kick, it's not luck.

Just because he might not do it twice doesn't make it luck. If he let Silva do that to him twice, it would just make him a terrible fighter that doesn't learn from his mistakes. By his standards, him beating down Wandy in 47 seconds was luck.

Vitor thought that kick was going to his mid-section. He wasn't prepared in my opinion.

He wasn't saying it like "oh, he just got a lucky shot or I would've won the fight." If you use context clues (which I learned about back in elementary school BTW), and read the sentence before that statement, you will see that he said "you only get lucky if you train." I take that more as him saying AS was prepared to use that kick, but him landing that in the perfect spot to knock someone out isn't gonna happen very often. Which is confirmed in this sentence "But I think it’s something that if he tried to do in ten fights he would only be succeeded once (laughs)."
He also goes on to say, that he didn't get lucky enough to land his punch first. So again, more evidence pointing towards him using the word lucky in a different way than what you might think it means. Next time, you might want to read more than just the title of the thread and first 2 or 3 sentences before you make up your mind and decide to post.
It probably doesn't help that the OP used the title of the thread to make it look a certain way, when the actual quote is pretty much the exact oppossite.

I totally get what he is saying. Not sure if this was a translation or a direct quote. Either way the way it is worded I can see why people could be like wtf.
He is more or less just stating what, imo, is basically true. You create your own luck.
Pettis does the matrix kick off the cage, and landing as flush as it did it was probably more lucky hendo wasnt knocked out cold, but just flat out landing it involves some bit of luck.
However, and just like Silva's kick, that little bit of luck it takes would never matter if you didn't train that skill, that kick, that spinning backfist, that whatever in order to put yourself in the proper position.
I'm not going to get "lucky" with a kick like that because I've never changed it. But I bet Belfort is right. Silva or anyone who trains that kick could throw it 100 times and maybe only get that perfect flush ko once.
He didnt say that silva was just lucky to win and that he would beat silva 9/10 times. He just said that kick probably wouldn't ko 9 out of 10 times.
I dont see anything wrong with it. He has been nothing but gracious and kept his sense of humor considering the loss.

I remember Jon Jones said something like he takes low percentage moves and makes them high percentage through hours of drilling and practice.
Anderson landed that kick on Hendo so that s--- was not luck. It was more like 80% skill, timing, and practicing the move & 20% luck.
