I heard Hardy say a couple things about Penn on that countdown show. One of the things he said is that BJ
does not
have the power in his hands like he does...
If BJ wants to test himself at WW again wouldn't it be cool to see him fight Hardy? It would give BJ a chance to show him that he does have power in his hands, even at WW. Personally its not like I am really impressed with Hardy's KO power, if anything I would say BJ has more KO power.
Anyone else think this would be fun to watch? I mean I don't really wanna see Penn fight GSP again just yet but I would enjoy seeing BJ test himself against a contender at 170.

There have been talks that DW wants Penn to move back up to welterweight, I think on a permanent basis. So we could see him actually have to work his way through the ranks.

I'd prefer for Penn to go to WW. He is by far the best LW, and is in need of some competition. If he bulked up properly, I think he'd be a serious threat at WW.
On a side note, it'd make Aoki the best LW in the world.

The unfortunate thing is there are still great fights for him at LW, there just not in the UFC. If he could get out of the UFC and fight the winner of Aoki and Melendez then he could move up to WW and confidently say he is the best in the world at LW. Aoki is for real and I want to see Penn vs Aoki much more than Penn vs Hardy or Penn vs GSP part 7 "did GSP eat garlic before the 6th fight and use his breath to throw BJ off his game gate." Penn isn't good enough or big enough to beat GSP, he was back when they first fought but GSP has gotten a ton better since then.

Penn would devour Hardy, Penns hands are better, maybe not as powerful, but more skilled. There isn't even a need to discuss any other aspect of MMA, because Penn is light years ahead of Hardy in all of those aspects.
Penn via Any way he chooses.

Well Penn isn't leaving the UFC any time soon, and Aoki isn't going there, so WW is the best option for exciting fights. I would love to see Zaromskis vs Penn. That could possibly happen at LW though since Zaromskis is tiny for a WW.
As for BJ not being good enoguh to beat GSP, I don't think that's true at all. In my opinion BJ's skillset is even if not better than GSP's. If BJ was to go up to WW seriously and put on weight properly I think he'd do quite well against GSP.

I would love to see Penn at WW especially in his current form.
There are some awesome match ups for him i.e.
Hardy/Daley - test their grappling skills and even see where Penn stands in terms of strikers at WW
Fitch - interesting grappling match
Koscheck - could be a good boxing match
I would also love to see how a Rumble vs Penn match would turn out

I agree 100%, and am I the only one on here that loves Penn and GSP? Am I the only one that wants to see them fight again with the new improved BJ? I don't want it right away but if BJ moved up and fought 2-3 fights at WW and won, I would love that fight!

I'm all for GSP/Penn 3 if Bj gets some wins at WW and puts on weight properly. No getting pudgy.

If Melendez can smash Aoki. And BJ moves to WW then I believe it would land Melendez in #1. But if Bj leaves and Aoki wins then itll most likly be AOki at #1.
Regardless BJ should stay at LW. There are still some great fights I would love to watch.

I don't think Melendez would jump from the bottom of the top ten to number one or two. If he beats Aoki I'd put him at 3 or 4 with Alvarez and possibly Kawajiri ahead of him.

BJ Penn will have plenty of worthy opponents in the UFC.
A possible rematch with Kenny Florian
Tyson Griffin
(personally, I think Diego should've stayed in LW. That Penn fight only made him smarter about his approach i think.)
Evan Dunham and Efrain Escudero are a couple of promising young guns.
George Sotoiropolous destroyed Joe Stevenson so he could be in the mix.
There's no need to be dimissive, a good challenger will rise.
Rematches arent a waste, Erick Morales kicked Manny Pacquiao's *** bad the first bout. It was a whole completely different story the next two fights?

I agree the Penn's skill set is comparable to that of GSP, if not better. If BJ were to move up to WW on a permanent basis, pack on a solid 10-15 lbs. he would deefinitely give GSP a run for his money. I personally like the idea of a third match if Penn makes a permanent move and works his way up the ranks.

I hope they fight and Hardy actually KO's BJ so he stays at LW and comes to the realization that he will never beat GSP in a WW title fight in the UFC.

BJ Penn right now training as hard as he is can fight and win against anyone in the light welter and middlewieght prob could even hang wit Silva... Remember Penn did ok against Machida.

    The only way BJ could "hang" with Silva is if he spoke Portuguese and went to a night club with him.
