Explain this post please....Just becuse he is not going to win the title you say he is irrelevant?
Is he still under contract with UFC ? He is probably not a legit threat to beat GSP (or most of the other upper echelon at 170), but he is a skilled fighter and a known commodity, I have a hard time believing he is just done and walking away. 35 isnt young in the fight game, but it isnt the end of the road either...

Did you feel Hughes convincingly beat Serra?

I feel the only time Serra was winning the fight was after Hughes got rocked from an accidental head butt.
i dont think hes in training because thres a few match ups out there for him.
i think a fight between him and hardy would have made more sence to me, hardy fighting for a title shot makes no sence at all.
or even jon fitch or alves are still not signed to fights and i think fitch/serra or alves/serra are quite marketable fights(and we all know that the ufc loves marketable fights more than giving them to fighters that deserve them i.e belfort/silva).

I still say Ben Saunders.
Yes Hughes did beat Serra convincingly in terms of a dec............. Serra really didnt have a case to say he won the dec until that last reverse takedown towards the end of the third round. Hughes really is startting to become irrelevant at WW especially if he not willing to fight the AKA WW's that are like ranked in the top 5 or 10, I dont see him trying to rematch Alves either, ok then who does he want to fight at 170 ?? GSP everytime, not gonna happen....
Serra is to undersized for that weight class and you know he wont go back to 155, I wouldnt mind seeing a Serra v Hazlett, that fight would show where erra truly stands in the WW division

Hughes lost round 1
Hughes squeaked out round 2
Hughes lost round 3. He lost ie because he was on defense the vast majority of the round. Being on top doesnt mean you are winning. I really hate that misconception.
wouldnt you say at this point in time Serra could make a better living for himself by coaching only? just training jitz only. his name is HUGE and could ask top dollar for sessions w/him
