I know you have to be well rounded in everything to be sucessful in mma. There was a time when the Gracies ruled mma with bjj,and there was a period when wrestlers dominated Severn,Couture,Coleman,Boxing hasnt really ever had a long lasting dominate champ. My question is if you were breaking into mma and excelled at one discipline and had to learn the others while you go.Which would give you the best chance to be sucessful?

This has been discussed many, many times before.

I'm thinking its pretty clearly BJJ or wrestling. I would go with BJJ though based off guys who aren't well rounded at all such as Maia that some people think is a top 5 MW in the world.(and he very well may be) And I think Jacare is probably a top 10 guy or will be by years end at least. Both those guys came in as pure BJJ guys and are just now starting to really improve in other areas, yet have been pretty successful already.

I don't think there is a correct answer to this:
Good Boxing/Standup= KTFO Wrestlers and BJJ guys before it hits mat.
- Daley Vs Hazelett
- MArquardt Vs Mia
Great BJJ/Grappleing= Submits boxers and wrestlers.
- Shields Vs Daley
- Philo Vs Sonnen
- Mousasi Vs Manhoeff
- Jacare Vs Lindland
Great wrestleing Controls strikers and overpowers BJJ
- Hughes Vs Gracie
- GSP Vs Penn
- GSP Vs Alves
- Sonnen Vs Marquardt
These days it really dosn't matter considering everyone has something of everything though. So, it becomes a matter of how good your all around game is compared to the others.

I would say BJJ over wrestling just because jits practitioners still have skills when they r on their backs whereas wrestlers r like turtles when they get put down.

Yup. Either wookie-style slapboxing or maybe Tae-Bo. A Tae-Bo master would have mad cardio.

Whilst I think that all the styles are vastly needed and/or great to the game, I voted for Wrestling. Wrestling you can clearly outpoint, 'lay n pray', or ground and pound him for a win. This has been shown by many top fighters. Yes, I'm talking about Lesnar, Sonnen, Pierre, Jones, Velasquez, Griffin, Evans, Ortiz, Henderson, Sherk, Fitch, Sheilds, etc.
Also, it helps defend the takedowns very well. Some good examples of this is Marquardt (okay not in his last fight, lol), Liddel, Rampage, Franklin, etc. etc.

If you read it correctly, I clearly stated "ground and pound after 'lay n pray'.
