Indie Rock sucks. And if you are one of these myopic people who worship overseas fighters and stay up til 3am just to watch it on tape delay on HDNet, you need to find yourself a girlfriend, or boyfriend, I don't discriminate.

Guess I'm not a real MMA fan, I'd much rather see the guy KTFO to the point where he is staggering around the cage afterwards and can't complete a sentence during the post fight interview rather than watch a guy tap out, take a a deep breath, slam the canvas with his fist and walk away perfectly alright and still able to fight.
Here's the harsh reality of it all, all's it takes to be a true MMA fan is someone who's willing to devote some time and money to watch the sport. It doesn't matter if that time is just spent watching TUF, or getting that one big PPV a year, or talking about it at a bar with some random dude because he's wearing a tapout shirt. That makes you a true fan. You don't have to like every fighter and every org, you don't have watch every 2nd rate event HDNet puts on television and you don't have to claim to love women's mma because "they are so much more technical and skilled than the men" (because they're not).
Nobody watches baseball til playoff time, no one watches college basketball til march, but you become a fan even for a short period of time, and that's all it really takes, a little time and maybe a couple bucks.
I've never understood the significance or liked the "true MMA fan" comments. I swear MMA is the only sport with fans that say things like that. Like it makes them better than you if they're more knowledgeable or if they train. I think if you buy the ppvs and/or dvds (or at least watch on spike tv for free, to all the broke MMA fans), go on MMA websites, and like the sport you're a fan in my book.

Excellent point. I somewhat enjoy NBA basketball. I would not join a forum and sit around discussing it all day. If you like, appreciate, and enjoy MMA then you are a fan. Hardcore MMA fans tend to have a "us against the world, if you're not with us you're against us" attitude. I guess because MMA has never had a whole lot of mainstream acceptance and gets scoffed at by people who dont understand it, it makes people who love the sport get defensive because they are sick of people tearing down something they love

those are also just plain old ordinary fans. They have a chip on their shoulders for countless reasons, but it still doesn't make them more special than any other fan.
I am a relatively new mma fan. Been watching for only 2 years but i fell hard for it. I have bought pretty much every ufc, pride, KOTC, and any other mma dvd's i could find. Have also youtubed fights days on end. I feel like i am pretty knowledgeable. My question is why is it an insult to be a "noob". New fans mean the sport is growing and i'm pretty sure thats a good thing. It takes time to learn mma but you can be a fan even if you dont understand the nuances. Most of my friends like mma. They watch it on spike. They come to my house for the ppv's. But they dont know mma. I consider everyone of them a true mma fan. They are the reason this sport is going to be the biggest sport in the world in our lifetime. Can i have a good mma conversation with them? No. That is why i log on to mma websites. That makes me a hardcore fan. I think everyone here is a hardcore fan. which is what the argument should be hardcore fan not true fan.

First off that is a PIC nothing more and Chuck was already on a spiral down so what is your point?
GSP has sex before a fight and he wins. If you did any research on the topic of sex and fighting you would see that Science has proven that having sex before a fight is better because it increases your testosterone level and that is a GOOD thing if you didn't know already. Also they have proven that nothing is effected when you don't have sex...................So guys have sex as much as you want and don't listen to some one with no knowledge on the topic of sex and fighting.
