We've recently seen Bisping get a nice $100,000 dollar raise. We've also seen Cung Le pull off an incredible $350,000 base pay for his debut. Seriously, Cung must have had some Hollywood Heavy Hitters for agents negotiating his contract.
We know Brock is arguably the leading, or seconding leading man when it comes to PPV buys. He also comands a $400,000 base pay which is absent of the pretty much standard "win clause bonus" in his contract.
So thoughts on what Overeem will likely get for his Octagon debut against the big money man that is Brock. Alistair has recently split from managers G.G., so who's going to bat for him? Does his name recognition carry the kinda weight to secure the big base payday. I would hazard a guess he has name status in European and Asian markets, which is also good for the UFC's bottom line, yet not so much in N.America (could be wrong on that)

I didn't see my number in the options...
Seriously, I said around 300k. Maybe that's too much but he was a multiple champion so I think anything less would be an insult.
I don't know....maybe even a lot more??
EDIT: If cung got 350 Overeem should get 700.

This has crossed my mind as well; after all, he is a highly decorated fighter. I went with $200,000 bones.

I bet what you and I are guessing is low. He's probably getting a small fortune. His reputation will sell to seasoned fans on it's own merit, even if it's just to buy the PPV to watch him get "exposed". He'll be a good sell to the uninitiated fans as well because the multiple-champion status being put up against Lesnar is going to be irresistible. He's a major draw in this card and for that reason I'm going to up mt guess and say $400 +
Do you like the way I talked myself into that right before your eyes?!

No clue on base pay.... He's definitely getting a cut of the ppv sales though. K1 champ, Strikeforce champ, arguabloy the greatest heavyweight there is right now.... Hard to not pay him a shitload.

I voted 200,000. People knew who Cung Le was do to his movies and his fighting in the American org Strikeforce. While Overeem fought in Strikeforce, he only fought once, and no one really knows who he is. He's more popular over seas.
200,000 is fair, with a nice raise if he becomes champ.

Voted $200,000 as well. Cung Le also fought in his hometown of San Jose, maybe that had something to do with his pay day? I'm not sure. anything between $200,000 and $250,000 is reasonable, in my opinion.

I voted 200k as well. Though with the stipulation of a small cut of the PPV buys.

I went 250,000. The draw he will have is worth that.

I'm with you guys. Cung was a HUGE draw for the SJ crowd.
Overeem hasn't shown he can be a huge draw in the states yet. Brock would sell this fight against anyone so I don't expect any crazy numbers or anything. It will be typical Lesnar numbers for PPV'S so it doesn't really warrant Overeem getting paid anything huge. I'm going with 200k disclosed maybe a disclosed win Bonus but nothing crazy. His money will be back door like Brock's , just not as big.
Edit- with SF being Zuffa, Overeem really has ZERO negotiating power. It's Zuffa or nothing.

I voted for $300k.
The reason is due to this being his first fight in the UFC, and after this fight we'll have an idea how he'll handle big wrestlers with strength, which he hasn't had to do.
Also, he's 10-0-0 (1 NC) in his last 11 fights, but those guys weren't great fighters and didn't have any ground game skill.
The only "good" heavyweight he's fought since 2007 was Sergei Kharitonov, whom he lost to. This will be Overeem's first fight against a top 10 ranked heavyweight as far as I know.
I give him $50k less than Cung Le because Cung was making his debut in his hometown for fighting purposes, and I still think $300k is a well deserved payday for a muli-time champion in other promotions.
I am an Overeem fan and hope he wins the UFC belt as soon as possible.

Welcome sir. Hope you like it here. Great post and hope to see you around more. Quote anything ResoluteProtector says and tell him he's an idiot and you'll do just fine around here.

Interesting, Overeem pulling in the $2 - 300,000 range, I think that's fair for a debut.. I don't see him pulling in the Big cheddar like Brock's $400k. It'll be awhile before he hits those numbers, although it's common knowledge, that cuts of the ppv. are going to be the far larger portion of his payday. Gets me thinking about Liddell's $500,000 base salaries, and Tito Ortiz's $460,000 he's pulling off with his last fights.
The UFC could eventually find Alistair being a much needed draw for them in the UK. as he's British/Dutch. I think the Brits would go bannanas for a card headlined by Alistair Overeem, as I think they're tired of Bisping. It could also be in the UFC's best interest to promote a headliner like that, while Alistair is still cheap.
Main event: Alistair vs Barnett, UFC Hw Tilte
Co main: Anderson vs Bisping, UFC Mw Title

I think he will get 250K base pay. I think its kind of silly for people to say what think this guy should get.

Why is it silly? My opinion matters and people should listen to me cause I know what I'm talking about. Duh!?

I just don't see why it's relevant.
Why does it matter how much each fighter earns? I would of thought what someone gets paid for whatever job they do is their own business.
Really as a fan, what should be important is what goes on inside that cage, not how many Bentley's a fighter can afford to buy afterwards.
