Ive been think for a while now that Hardy is gonna be GSP's last fight at WW and he will make his move and test himself at MW. There are things that keep my guessing both ways. Of course, with him putting on more weight as of late, is a pretty good indicatoe that he is thinking about making the move soon. Also, the fact that the next deserving contenders have all lost pretty recently to GSP. It would seem like a good time to make the move so the WW division can sort its contenders out.
On the other hand, Maybe Daley KTFO's kos and turns himself into a top Contender. Also there now is Paulo Thaigo who is looking sharp. Even young fighter Rumble Johnson and Ben saunders look like possible contenders. Another huge deal would be the signing of Jake Shields as I believe his contract is up after his fight with Hendo. I Don't see him staying at MW if he losses in dramatic fashion and I don't see him fighting Diaz at WW.
Oh, and lastly. Mr. BJ Penn is gonna be back you at WW soon yet again
So, who knows WTF is gonna happen. What is your guess? How many more fights(and who) do you see GSP figting before he goes to MW to mess up Anderson.......

if i had to guess i'd say gsps' first middleweight opponent would be someone coming off of a win maybe not in the top 5 but possibly top 10 maybe maia or marquardt(not coming off a win obviously), i'm guessing it would be whoever is most marketable. I'd like to see him fight anyone heavier except maybe bisping cause i know what would happen there. but i'm more than thrilled at the prospect that he may fight AS one day because honestly i think he can take him.

Honestly, I don't think GSP is in any rush.
(1) He's too intelligent to rush putting on weight.
(2) He's making good cash (endorsements) being considered the number 2 fighter in the world. I'm not sure he (or his camp believes) he could beat Anderson Silva. Moving up is begging for a match-up.

It'll be a while. He feels there are still a lot of good fights for him at WW. I think it'll be a few years.

Really? What fights? I don't see any that I would really look forward to as a true test for him at WW. I really hope he decides to move up after his next fight, but I'm thinking he's a long time from doing that. I would guess if he destroys his next 3 opponents he'll do it but on a part time basis like Silva is doing in LHW.

If GSP doesnt feel like adding weight now, he might consider losing weight.
He would easely steal BJ's title and be the first to hold both WW and LW title in the UFC
How awesome would that be

That would be funny but then we'd have to hear BJ complain some more  ..

GSP couldn't make 155 and even if he was somehow able to, he'd lack the explosiveness needed for his takedowns and without the takdowns Penn would beat his ***.
As for the topic at hand...He beats Hardy, beats the winner of Fitch/Alves 2 again, and maybe another defense against Almeida or Thiago if they both win next few fights.

GSP is walking around in the low 190's now. If he keeps adding muscle at the rate he has been, he could move up to the 200 range by the time his next fight comes about. At that point he'd probably have to make a choice between size and cardio at WW, and moving up to MW. Given his status, he can probably get a pick of his opponents at MW. He probably wouldn't be thrown to contender level monsters from the start, so figure the UFC gives him a MW tune up. All in all, he'd have a year+ to put on size before hitting the top fighters at 185 (who are also the biggest). That should be plenty of time to add another 10-15 pounds of lean mass.

I was talking to GSP (my brother trains with him), and he said the more threads that are made about this the more he will think about moving up to 185.

A few months ago Dan Hardy and Paul Daley weren't even being looked at as contenters. Just because you can't think of a lot of contenders right now doesn't mean there won't be like 8 of them in 6 months. GSP will always have good fights at WW, the UFC will make sure of that.

Hes not gonna move up ,if he does it will be part time, like Anderson,BJ do.If he would Belcher,Maia,Sonnen,Bisping, are all fights he might be interested in.He would have to take at least a year of full time at 185 to be big enough to compete with Anderson,Vitor,Wandy there just to big for him right now 15 pounds is a lot of weight in mma.Although if he did 155 and 170 would probaly be a lot more wideopen cause I think BJ would move to 170 with GSP out of the way.I would love to see GSP move it would change 3 weights significantly, but I dont think it will never be more than 1 or 2 fights against 2nd tier guys hes to smart. The only way well get to see him and AS fight would be at catcheweight maybe 180 but I doubt it will ever happen.

GSP said in an interview that if he moves up to 185 it will be permanent. He would only move up if he can bring his walking around weight above 200lbs. So if he does that he doesn't want to try to put his body through such a drastic cut going from 200+ back down to 170. I think he'll move up eventually but not for a few years and when it happens it will be permanent.
