Although he's known for being the UFC's heavyweight gatekeeper, Kongo is 3-0-1 in his last four fights. The draw was a fight against rising-star Travis Browne, a fight Kongo would've won had he not been deducted a point for holding onto Browne's shorts several times throughout the fight. I must say, I haven't been very impressed by Kongo over this 4-fight stretch, but he does deserve a step-up in competition. I'm anxious to see who the UFC chooses for his next opponent. Personally, I don't think the UFC has too many options. I think the only big names for him out there who don't already have a fight booked are Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin. If the UFC isn't impressed and gives him another "gatekeeper" opponent, I think the only one that makes sense right now is Mike Russow. Dave Herman and Stipe Miocic only having one fight with the promotion don't make sense, in my opinion. What do you guys think?

Even though Mark Hunt is coming off of a dominant victory over Ben Rothwell, I still feel like he would be a step down in competition for Kongo.

His performance against someone he was much more experienced than doesn't warrant him a step UP in competition though IMO

The most ridiculous thing I've ever read in my life.

He didn't look impressive in victory, as did Hunt, so match them up.

Agree. However, his record over his past four fights does indicate a need for a step-up in competition.

I suppose you don't believe Big Nog should face Mir because Schaub "wasn't experienced enough"? Same with Lesnar after his second fight with Mir. Any victory should bring you up in competition. If you beat them, you deserve someone better. I thought that was obvious.

Hunt beat Rothwell, so he'll get a better Kongo.

The same doesn't apply for Kongo, does it? This thread isn't about Mark Hunt, is it? Your logic is flawed.

I would think Hunt is better than Mitrione on the feet since neither have much of a ground game and Mark has fought much better fighters in his career, so it kinda does apply to Kongo.
Lol, you mad bro? I said Cheick vs Nelson OR Hunt in my original post.

Okay? I think Melvin Manhoef is better on their feet rather then Chael Sonnen. Does that mean Anderson should face Manhoef? According to your logic, it would make sense.
No I'm not mad. I just think your logic is flawed.

No, cause the comparsions you made are shitty lol . You compared a striker and a wrestler. I compared a striker and a prospect who basically only strikes. Like I said before, the fact that Hunt has actually faced legitimate competition in his career and Mitrione hasn't makes him a step up in competition to me.

Matt Mitrione was higher up on the ladder then that of Mark Hunt. Simple as that. Mark Hunt is on a two fight winning streak, one against a can, Kongo is on a four fight winning streak and has already established himself in the top 10 UFC Heavyweights. Kongo needs someone that is on the borderline of top competition. Roy Nelson is a good choice. Mark Hunt needs at least one more win before I put him up there against Kongo. Make Mark Hunt face Travis Browne.
