Shogun! He could win that fight. The Evans fight broke my heart but the man did beat Lil Nog and has all the potential in the world.
Bader just beat Rampage so I think he gets someone on a winning streak.
Bonnar, yeah that would work
Thiago Silva needs a fight...
Is Tito retired now?
I just want to see him fight again!
Thiago Silva fights in 4 days.
Bonnar is also coming off of a win.
Machida makes sense, but if Silva loses to Gustaffsen, I say that's who he should fight next.

I say Machida, even though I see it going in the same one-sided direction that his fight with Evans did...

i wouldn't mind that.
there's pretty much nothing in the LHW division right now so i don't care, i just want to see him get back into the cage.
Bonnar or Matyushenko. Preferably Bonnar.
All the other options are terrible.
Machida rapes him worse than Evans did.
Jimmo is new and unknown, and holds no value for a fellow up and coming fighter.
Davis needs to stay away from top fighters for a bit longer. His stand up is still horribly predictable. A striker like Machida would light him so badly it isn't even funny.

I would agree that his stand-up is predictable and that is what he needs to work on. His kicks are very telegraphed. He should probably take a second tier type fight, like a Bonnar, Vladdy, Brilz or Bader type fight next.

not just predictable but he looked like a 70 year old man striking against evans in that fight i've never seen strikes that slow
He has so much potential with his good strong wrestling, his bjj looks legit and a decent sized lightheavy but he really needs to improve his standup dramatically, which is terrible as it looks so amateurish,a little like shields is.
Which is why I think he should fight someone like Bader or Bonnar next and not Machida who IMO will be able to keep it standing and dance around to beat him although he's not a certainty to beat either of the other guys
I have to be honest, I didn't see anything from Davis against Rashad that makes me want him to rush back. He needs to work on a lot of things from nerves to his striking and I don't want to see him fight mid-tier guys again. I say take the time off to train and come back better than ever.

I think he's trying to say that Phil Davis is too good to be fighting mid-tier fighters, but not good enough yet in his career to be fighting elite level fighters like Rashad.

Simply saying he shouldn't go
back
to fighting mid-tier guys. He's now seen that wrestling and a few subs will only get you so far in this division. Needs to step up his striking game now.
He doesn't have a lot of experience but you look at his UFC record and he holds wins over Stann, Gustaffsson, Boetsch, and Little Nog. That's impressive. So while I kind of agree that he should get someone a bit lower ranked, he definitely should get someone good as he's proved he's able to hang with some pretty high level guys.
Bonnar would be good except that he's on a 3-fight win streak. I'm not against those matchups but coming off a decisive loss vs 3-fight win streak might be a bit much.
Bader is pretty similar story
Forrest Griffin?
Igor Pokrajac? He's maybe ranked a bit low for Phil.
I dunno, I guess I wouldn't mind him fighting Bonnar or Bader. Or unless he wanted to wait for the loser of Gustaffsson-Silva.
He should take on an old lion with no teeth to maybe get a stoppage, he did failed with little Nogeira though. There are plenty of candidates for this, I don't think Bonnar is a good fight for him, Bonnar is tough and takes a punch he sure won't go down easily, Matyushenko is not a big name so he doesn't belong there unless the UFC wants to give him two easy fights rather than one, and Griffin could be a good opponent for him, he's washed up but still a big name, it could make for an entertaining fight where I see Davies taking it to the ground and maybe (who knows) putting a beating with G n P on Griffin, but he's tough I don't think he's gonna be stopped, it's ok though.
