St. Pierre win this one in the first round via Violence...
Shields has talent and he is a good fighter. I think he does great against a lot of the WW in the UFC but St. Pierre is on another level, and I think he will prove it in April by really taking it to Serra.

No kidding. Shields is good but St. Pierre would absolutely destroy him. Shields' only chance is getting St. Pierre to the mat and I got a funny feeling that that wouldn't happen.

Never count out Shields, i dont really think he would get destroyed. Was it a trick question when asking who would win when gsp and serra fought the first time. You can NEVER count out a fighter. I personally think GSP would win, but this a crazy sport, Who Knows? .

I would probably pick GSP.
But by no means would he walk through Jake. No way.
I would not be suprised one bit if Jake won either. Since he is not in the UFC he basically gets no respect.
It's a damn shame.

I don't really think you can ask the question you asked and use the "crazy sport" argument to legitimize it. Absolutely he'll have a chance just as Serra did/does, but does that mean Serra is better than GSP? No way. Serra is good but GSP is on another level and wins the fight most of the time. The same can be said for Shields.

GSP
for results, see GSP vs Mayhem Miller. I think the fight would look identical.

St-Pierre via stoppage round 1.
We know anything can happen in mma (aka St-pierre vs Serra) but this one is a no brainer.

I don't know why these questions are asked. Unless you are simply being rhetorical, then it makes sense, but if this is a legitimate question, come on. St Pierre by kicken em in da 'ed.

I'd probably put St. Pierre over Shields right now. Shields needs a quality opponent to fight next. Fickett is an under-rated fighter, but not near the same level as St. Pierre.

Honestly, I can't see Shield hanging with the upper-tier WW's in the UFC.
Koscheck, Hughes, Sanchez, and Fitch would all beat him.

Shields would kill Mayhem.
He would lose to GSP, but he would hang with him.
I think he loses to Fitch possibly. He in my opinion would beat Hughes and Diego for sure.
Kos vs Shields would be a good fight.

Jake Shields is a strong guy but St. Pierre is stronger and just stylewise a terrible match for Jake. Jake doesn't stand with anyone and is just relentless going for TDs like against Pyle if he did that against Kos, Hughes, or GSP it would be different. His standup I have heard is average so I think the standup gets cancelled out and St. Pierre would take him down and just outwork him.
I want Shields in the UFC once he is done beating Fickett he did well against Okami but wasn't really impressive he is too relentless going for TDs and doesn't want to stand that won't work against college wrestlers like Kos or Hughes.

True but his Jitz is better than Hughes/Kos/Diego/Fitch, those guys are great wrestlers, but Shields has better submissions than all of them.
He trained with Liddell in the Pit for a few years, I dont think his hands are bad at all, I just think he underuses them.

Perhaps you should do some research on Shields. He has competed against at least 2 of the 4 people on your list. ( in different arenas, bjj, and grappling) and beat them soundly.
He is way more talented than some give him credit for. And I think in a fight with GSP he wouldn't be out of place.
I agreed with his self assessment, he is easy top 5 at his weight.

Yeah his jits is better than those guys but I've rarely seen him submit guys from the bottom if not ever in his MMA career.
I don't think he's ever found himself in trouble on the feet in the fights I have watched from him. Maybe Mike Pyle rocked him I thought he did, can't remember clearly.

GSP would win via decision and cause thousands of MMA fans to begin to doubt his killer instinct or desire to finish a fight. Shields will have no real offense other than a recklessly thrown jab. GSP will probably get poked in the eye and have his vision damaged during the fight. GSP will then drop in everyone's P4P polls because MMA fans are fickle.
