That the WEC lightweights are going to have such a hard time merging into the UFC. I keep hearing that many may drop down to featherweight?
I don't get it. If anything i think many of the WEC lightweights are going to "expose" some the UFCs beloved LWs. It's like unleashing a bunch of clay guidas into the division of different shapes and sizes
Yea but the UFC lightweights have been fighting better competition. It's gonna be the WEC lightweights that will have something to prove, but I think a hand full will do pretty good.
From what I have seen, most people have been giving the top LW's in the WEC nothing but praise and agreeing that they will definintly make a splash in the UFC's LW division. There will always be a few people who go against the crowd no matter what the discussion is.
I can't explain this, but up until about the last 2 years, I would have said that none of the WEC lightweight fighters would stand a chance in the UFC. BUT, over the last 2 years, they have all impressed me a ton. I think it started with the first Varner/Cerrone fight and went from there. For me, anyway.
The WEC guys were there, and not in the UFC, for a reason. As much respect as I have for all those great WEC fighters, the UFC lightweights are the best in the world (a very few exceptions aside). The top four or five WEC competitors will do well enough, but to consider all of those athletes to be on the same level as those of the UFC is incorrect, in my humble opinion. (I still find it amazing that the final champion of the WEC's lightweight division gets an automatic title shot in the UFC. Ordinarily, he'd have to beat a number of the top athletes in the UFC's lightweight division to earn a title shot, and currently, I don't believe any of those WEC guys could pull off a run like that.)

It's pretty obvious to me they don't want the WEC champ to fight someone like Joe Stevenson and get whooped so its better to let them get whooped by the champ.
Joe Stevenson thats just an extreme example though I think the wec guys will do fairly well and pull out some wins.
I think Henderson and Pettis are the only ones who will get close to a title with guys like cerrone being in that clay guida, exciting fight gatekeeper position

Thats the problem. They may be an army of Clay Guida's. A guy who seems like will never make it past gatekeeper status.

Each one of their welcome matches should be vs. Clay Guida.

Haha almost spot on. Bendo and Pettis both had to fight Clay Guida before they got a title shot.
