Once again Bellator is on the verge of another ppv self destructing. I've lost track....is this 2 or 3?
What's the deal? Why is their card to brittle that one injury sends the whole thing crumbling? To me, it's simple; they're not trying to market mma...they're trying to make money off of names alone.
Invicta on the other hand has never had the marquee names, yet their ppv's have delivered. They had a minor glitch right out the gate with (ustream?), but Shannon Knapp handled it the right way. They next one went off without a hitch. Invicta sells mixed martial arts. Plain and simple. If you're an mma fan, you're their target audience. It has that small circuit feel, yet the broadcast are produced very well.
Bellator is still trying to decide if they want to be the WWF or a legit mma organization. They inherited a network that the UFC built for the mma community. How can you screw that up?
Bjorn, look, it's obvious you don't understand the ppv market; that's fine. Just continue raking in the money that the UFC left for you. Spike likes you....and so do we.
Personally I'd rather see them do a ppv for $19.95 with a bunch of no names until they get it figured out. Better yet, call Shannon Knapp for advice.

yes that glitch was on Ustream, and they gave the entire card for free to make everyone happy, and it worked.
Bellator is trying to get on a level to compete with the UFC...but they just don't have the depth, the name recognition etc...They put a fight everyone wants to see behind a pay wall and give you gimmicks to get you to pay. Soon as that fight falls through it's over.
Bellator is a TV product, and they could be doing better even at that.

They've had to do it more than once too I think.

Twice, but that's forgivable because the internet always has something wrong with it.

i dont have a problem with this card staying on ppv but for full price they are f---ing crazy cut it back to $ 20 and i'd probably buy it

to be fully honest I still wouldn't buy it at a lowered price, I was interested in a single fight and that's it
but ye I have to agree, lowering the price is the best possible move there's no other option
- Cancelling the PPV would be terrible, "ANOTHER PPV CANCELLED SUCKATOR blah blah"
- Keeping it at the same price is an absolute rip off

I would be shocked to see this PPV do over 20k buys now. Even before the injury there just isn't any buzz about this card. The last PPV like this one I think was the WEC PPV. There was lots of talk about that card from common fans. I remember talking to people about it at work that I knew rarely watched MMA. With this Bellator PPV, there has been nothing. I have even asked some people if they have heard about it and gotten nothing.
I would not be surprised to see Coker step in for Bjorn here soon. After this f--- up I can see Viacom look for a change in direction. Two attempted PPV, and two fails. Even with this PPV going forward it is still a failure, something has to change.

They had 3 successful ppv events in 2013. Shannon Knapp said they would hold of on booking shows until the TUF20 tryouts were done because she didn't want to deny a girl an opportunity to make the UFC.
Class act.

You don't really believe Bjorn is in charge there do you?

I think he is the president and face of Bellator. I also think he answers to someone at Viacom. He runs the day to day, and I would not be surprised if he pitched Bellator to Spike saying they could do PPV. The harsh reality for Bellator is they don't have the depth to do PPV that people care about, for the price they are asking. Chandler v Alvarez was it, now Eddie is hurt and I doubt he will want to wait around for Bellator to try this again. He just needs to fight so he can move on, and that fight doesn't have to be a PPV.

"Successful" meaning they didn't break down half way through.
There's a reason Invicta are not revealing PPV numbers & are desperate for a TV deal, or FightPass deal (which seems to be more likely).

I love Invicta, but lets not act like Shannon Knapp is running an amazing promotion. They've got a Champion that hasn't fought in over a year, they've not held any events this year & don't have any announced. You can blame TUF, but it would have been simple enough to organise a card with 135 & 145ers, and any 125 & 105ers that were not going to try to make 115.
If Invicta really were "getting it", they'd be putting on shows & reminding people about their product. Going 6 months without an event isn't good business, regardless of whether or not they're working on broadcasting deals.

Also Bellator doesn't build up any of their events, it's always just one after another. The weekly thing is too much. However I do think they have enough great fighters to have fewer events but stack the deck each time out. Like the WEC did. They were able to build guys like Benson, Pettis, Aldo, Faber by having them consistently on shows. All of those guys can headline PPV's now. I feel like when I watch Bellator I'm watching for the fights not the fighters. Regardless of what some say or think, it really does come down to the fighters for a lot of us all the time. For example I was down to watch Brown/Silva but I'm not going to miss Henderson/Khabilov cause Benson is one of my favorite fighters and never miss any of his fights cause I've built up the loyalty with that fighter.

I don;t think they can lower the price. The way I read it was the Bjor gave teh cable companies the right to price the fight. So, they range from $30-$45. My provider has it a t $45. If it was $#0, I would definalty get it. $45, prob not.

If WSOF had a PPV nothing would be said, we may not buy it but we wouldn't go around bitching about them. The reason the fans hate Bellator is because they tried to keep it real at the start with the strict tournament format(which we all loved) but then they moved away from it, then they had all the contract disputes, trying their best to keep certain people as champions(Curran, Chandler), then they try to sell us Tito vs Rampage, then they start hyping that fight through TNA. They just keep making terrible moves. I'm bored of them, I just want their good fighters in the UFC now. They had their shot to be credible but they blew it.
