Pretty interesting read considering how many internet experts say it's a joke.

Back in high school I used to play Dance Dance Revolution to improve my footwork for basketball. It definitely improved my balance and agility.

Anyone remember the old Nintendo Power Pad? It had a bomb-assed track & field game and I think I recall a step aerobics game. The reaction time was kind of TIMMY but it was fun nonetheless and I was overweight so it made me sweat Cheez Whiz.

Being a Wii owner already I decided to go ahead and try one of these games and bought the EA Active and set up a custom workout concentrating on cardio and upper body strength. To up the ante instead of the wimpy band it comes with I used my heavy bands I owned already from JC. The workout was 45 minutes long with lots of lunges, jump squats and jump lunges and at the end I had worked up a damn good sweat, as good as we do at practice to be honest about it. I had already done the boxing and knew that an hour of it left my arms feeling definitely worked as well as a bit of cardio, not much cardio closer to anaerobic actually. All in all I gotta say for someone not in shape the EA game would kick their butts on even a mild intensity and high intensity would leave many lying on the floor in a pool of rancid cheez whiz sweat and for those already in shape the customs can give you all you want out of a workout. Plus gotta admit it's kinda fun.
