I can understand Marquardt getting a title shot if he wins, because he is really good, but do you think Chael Sonnen should get a title shot if he wins? I don't. If, and that's a big IF, he gets past Marquardt, he should fight one more contender, and then should he win that he should get a title shot.

He also handed Dan Miller his only defeat in MMA the fight before that, and then the fight before that one he lost to Maia. But a three fight winning streak featuring wins over Miller, Okami, and Marquardt would be good enough, that to me would be a pretty impressive streak of wins in that division. There would really be no other contenders left if Nate loses, so it would almost have to be Sonnen. However, I do not think that Sonnen will get past Nate but if he somehow does I believe that he would deserve a chance to fight the champ.

He will have just beat Dan Miller, Yushin Okami and Nate Marquardt all in a row, he will have been recently the WEC champion after beating then top MW Paulo Filho with his only real loss in that span being against Demian Maia.
If he beats Nate Marquardt, i have zero problems with him getting a title shot.

As much as Chael might deserve it, I doubt he'll get the title shot right away. I think Marquardt will get it with a win regardless of how he wins. I think Chael will have to beat someone else before getting the shot. Someone like Belfort is he loses. You gotta remember he got subbed by Demian Maia not too long ago.

idk sonnen seems to always be in the underdog role and hes won his last two i think he can grind out a decision in this 3 rd fight here

as everyone has seen, sonnen seems real focused and just straight overpowered miller and okami (who is known for overpowering his opponent) I just dont seem him doing that to nate though

i think nate is smaller than sonnen and can be overpowered but we will se i obviously know nate is the fave and i expect him to win but i will not be shocked if sonnen takes him down repeatedly

Hopefully Nate wins because the prospect of a Silva/Sonnen fight doesn't sound appealing.
And if Sonnen were to win, what a slap in the face for Okami. Seemed like Okami wasn't getting a title shot because of his grind-it-out style which translates into a boring fight for some. Is Sonnen any different?

If Sonnen Wins and gets the title shot when do you think he'll dole out the "verbal beating " he promised to Silva? My Guess would before he fights him because he may need to go to the dentist after the fight.

What's the controversy? Marquardt certainly deserves a title shot and if Sonnen were to beat him, he would earn one instead.
