I actually like this idea. I think Vinny would eat Phil Davis alive, and it would be a great fight to promote either guy. Davis wins and he beat the M1 champ. Vinny wins and he beat a "top contender" in the UFC and can be easily promoted as a contender.

Jimmo hasn't fought since July, wonder what is holding him up.
Other guy that nobody has mentioned is, Cyrille Diabate he has two straight wins, but definitely couldn't stop Davis' takedowns.

We've already had Chris Wideman and Gray Maynard pull out of their fights, they need to bring in a big name for this fight. This is supposed to be one of the UFCs biggest shows this year. Vinny would be a good replacement, but I think they need to pull Ryan Bader out of his fight witht he Janitor and maybe throw Vinny into that fight. No disrespect to Matsyushenko but Bader deserves a better fight than that and his wrestling background matches up pretty well with Phil Davis. UFC isn't shy about pulling fighters from other fights to pull together bigger fights/cards. Looking at the other top guys in the division they're all booked into some pretty big fights, Bader makes the most sense to pull out of his fight (Rua vs Gustaffson, Hendo vs Machida, Evans vs Nogueira, Jones vs Sonnen and Rampage vs Texeira).
