Would Shogun vs Manuwa have ended any differently?

When it was announced that OSP would replace Jimi Manuwa in the main event, not only did many MMA fans cringe, due to the obvious effect on the card, but many Shogun fans cringed because of how the style of OSP would be a much more difficult match up for him. The size, athleticism & overall movement all seen to be major differences in styles when comparing OSP & Manuwa. In the end it was a beautiful slip & counter left hook that dropped Shogun, as he came in with one of his trademark blitzes, 30 seconds into RD1. I thought the movement OSP used to counter this was just perfect as he was backed up against the cage. My question is that: "Would the same situation have arose in a fight with Jimi Manuwa?" Would it have been Jimi being the aggressor, pressuring Shogun against the fence & not the other way around? I am NOT AT ALL saying Shogun would have won. I'm just interested in seeing what the majority all you other fans think the fight w/ Manuwa would've gone

I don't think it would have made a difference. Shogun didn't seem like he showed up to fight yesterday. As soon as they showed Shogun backstage, and looked over at my friend and said "I don't think its going to be a good night for Shogun".

manuwa has almost the same reach as osp. i think its very possible he couldve landed a counter hook in the same fashion

The only thing that would've been different would be that Shogun would've actually slipped on a banana peel.

Manuwa is a completely different fighter to OSP. OSP is much faster and has better reach. Still Manuwa could KO Shogun early. When guys with so much power are fighting the fights can be so unpredictable. Shogun could KO OSP on another night.

I thought he was fighting well until he lunged in and got caught. He landed some nice hard leg kicks. He just ran into OSP headfirst and ended up running into a counter left hook

Ovince has such
heavy
hands though.
Manuwa has more dynamic striking, but I'm not sure he'd put Shogun out like Ovince did.
I still want to see Shogun vs Manuwa (that is if Shogun doesn't drop to MW)

Shogun is developing that Lidell-esque chin piece. I don't want to be that guy, but he may want to put some serious consideration into his future and his desire to form a coherent sentence. Just sayin.

Its stuff like this that worries me. MMA hasnt been around long enough to see the full after effect.
We all know there are some wrecked Boxers out there nowadays.

It was a late opponent change bit Osp was already in a near full camp. He was supposed to fight on this card as is until his opponent pulled out. I liked Osp from the start but not overly confident.

You don't be to be a MD/neurological genius now days to know combat sports/heavy contact sports can do a serious number on the body and yet people participate in them knowing that risk. As long as he passes the tests the docs give him and he's deemed fit to compete, it's the fighters call to make

I feel the same way. When you look at fighters in Thailand accumulating hundreds of fights in their careers MMA fighters are very safe in comparison.

He would've tapped manuwa out.

We'll never know
maybe he didn't respect OSP's striking as much as he would have of Jimi's?

It would have been a little different because Manuwa is an orthodox fighter. However, Shogun fights like an idiot. He charged at OSP, chin forward, winging wild punches. He would have lost because he forgot WTF head movement is and how to use it.

Really? Wow that's surprising. Jimis only 6"1 and OSPs 6"4 I think?
I was leaning on Rua against both fighters but Manuwa could've easily blasted Rua

Of course it would have ended differently.
There's no way OSP knocks out Shogun if Rua fought Jimi.
