Yeah there is. A while back I opened mine up and replaced the CD drive with a DVD drive so now I can download full game ISOs from a torrent engine, burn them to a blank DVD and play them on my 360 for free. Looks like a good time for you to mod your 360. Just google how to do that.

Or if you want a legal fix so you can continue to use live you can get that drive off line as well, or you can get a RROD box for next to nothing and take the drive from it and put it in the new one.

For now. xBox will catch up to this, I'm quite sure. They always find a way to get you. I had a modded xBox back in the day, and after a while they got really good at killing live accounts for mods. The good news is this was before the 360 and live sucked then anyway.

Doubt it...There is always stealth updates to go undetected on Live. My 360 has been modded since modding was possible on 360.

And every bank rober thinks they will get away with it too. It just my opinion that in the end this kind of thing will catch up with you. If playing live isn't important to you it shouldn't matter, but thats just my opinion (crap, its spreading everywhere).

LMFAO! Way to go Seawall. Its my opinion that you wife is to blame for this BTW. Greatest thread cross over ever. We are going to have to let this get back to xBox things now. This is going to be the highlight of my day, and even in my opinion that is sad.

Start simply, don't assume it's a matter of replacing the drive. It could be as simply as the actually tray being wedged. Unfortunately, you can't start taking it apart without voiding the warranty, but if I were in your place, I would anyway, to get it to the point where I can try to align the tray back in the right spot again.

Best plan: Go to Wal-Mart, buy a new one. Go home, put your broken one in the new box, pack it back up and take it back. Think of some BS excuse and they'll take it.
My buddy did this with his 360 when it RROD on him. He took it to Wal-Mart, swapped it, took the old one back and they accepted it. Didn't check the box or anything.
Now he's got 2 hard drives and a brand new 360.

I'm sure this would work 99% of the time, but that's waaayyy past my morality limit. I would feel like s--- if I did that.

Almost as bad as downloading free music.
Seeing as how Microsoft can no doubt afford the loss and the chinese kid who put it together could use the job security, I say go for it. It's a win win for everyone. Well everyone except Walmart and Microsoft. They wont require id for an expensive return like that ? If they did, couldnt they trace the package when Microsoft comes to them with the problem ? Seems a little scary to me. On second thought, I say pay to have it fixed and dont ever put it somewhere that it could fall from again.ie the ground. Just dont step on it.
