You may embed only 3 quotes within each other.

I like the rule, actually. People use the "quote" system way too much and too indiscriminately, IMO. And this is my opinion as a poster, not as a mod.
For example, if someone makes a several-paragraph post, it is not necessary to quote the whole thing in order to give a one-sentence reply. Pictures are another doozy; we don't need the same picture(s) quoted each time someone wants to comment on them, especially if the original post had multiple pictures.
Along the same lines is the possibility of unlimited quote imbeds. Why re-quote every stage of an entire conversation in each post when the information is already included right above your new post? Single out the specific part of the conversation you are responding to, quote that, and delete the rest.

There's no real value in allowing deeper quoting -- what, are you looking to go "me too" for the fifth time in a thread? Wow, great high value post -- and it only leads to abuse.
Show a legitimate scenario where you'd need to quote more than 3 deep and I'll give it some consideration.
People are much to quick to quote stuff as it is. Huge pet peeve: quoting an entire novel and responding with a one-sentence line. Quote the opening paragraph so people know what you're responding to, but the last thing we need is quoting the whole thing.
Edit to add: UGH!

^^^ Performify, people are going to start doing IP checks on us to make sure we are not the same person, lol.

Nothing is wrong with being allowed 3 quotes, but is it possible to change it so that when you want to quote 4 it automatically sets to 3, I see that done in other forums

The great thing about that smiley is that I can comeback to this thread next year and Performify will still be laughing at my post.

Not necessarily...there is no time limit during which mods and admins can edit posts, so if you tick him off he could change it to one of the angry faces. Watch your step.
