UFC® TAKES DOWN ILLEGAL STREAM WEBSITE AND SEIZES ITS RECORDS
Company to Continue Vigorously Pursuing Illegal Users
LAS VEGAS
– As part of the on-going initiative against online piracy, Zuffa, LLC, owner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) organization, successfully took down and seized the records of
www.cagewatcher.eu
, a website that illegally streamed two UFC pay-per-view events.
UFC has obtained details of the streaming site’s userbase, including email addresses, IP addresses, user names and information pertaining to individuals who watched pirated UFC events including UFC 169. Also recovered were chat transcripts from the website. Using this data, UFC will work with Lonstein Law Office to prosecute identified infringers.
Lonstein Law Office has successfully prosecuted hundreds of claims for the UFC organization for sites illegally streaming content and individual users since 2007. UFC’s status as the industry leader in pay-per-view television has helped it become a leader in cracking down on companies and individuals watching and facilitating the watching of pay-per-view events online, without paying.

So I take it this was a new site, as they only streamed two events? lol

I don't stream the events, but maybe if they lowered the price a bit maybe it wouldn't be an issue 55 dollars in this climate seems insane to pay, and i'd be pissed if I paid 55 dollars on 169, but then again you just don't know what you pay for till its over

I think it is great they are shutting down these sites, but I do not agree with going after the users. Sure they are breaking the law, but going after the users seems a bit much. Even the FBI has said they will no longer go after people who download or steam illegal materiel, the numbers are just to great. Shutting down the hub sites and going after those that opporate it should be enough.
Over all Zuffa is just wasting money on this. One site goes down, two more will come up. The only company that is going about this the right way is Sony. The use of Cinavia is the best way to block users. They still have to download the content, but it is unuseable without audio.

No chance in hell that anything will happen to the people that watched the event.

yeah this is actually really lame. does the zuffa really think that shutting down a site that streamed 2 events is going to solve anything? also, the article states that
"Lonstein Law Office has successfully prosecuted hundreds of claims for the UFC
organization for sites illegally streaming content" but i've only heard of a few sites that have actually been prosecuted. or maybe they're all small time like the one in the article who've only streamed a few events. either way, i haven't heard anything from Zuffa about these prosecutions actually being beneficial to their company. (they might have but i probably missed it)
but at least you know where those extra $5 for UFC 168 are going to!

Isn't it weird that the Department of Homeland Security uses taxpayer money and resources on this stuff? Shouldn't they be trying to prevent school shootings or something like that?

That's not how the PPV business works dude. WrestleMania has never gone lower than price it always goes up. Floyd Mayweather's PPV costs like $75.
That's how it works. No one is ever going to lower their PPV prices.

WWE is including Wrestlemania and all pay-per-views for their $10/month equivalent to fight pass. I would buy Fight Pass in a heartbeat if they decided to add the pay-per-views.

I see your point all about making money,
But I'm lucky where I live I pay extra on the TV bill and that's it.
What @Galgorian said is what I'd do if I lived state side, just a Shame it's not

The problem with including the PPV with fight pass is that you have to watch it from your PC. I order the PPV, people come over and we BS for a while, eat, then start the fights. If they could link it to my DTV account and I could watch it on my TV, I would pay 20 a month for fight pass. Or if UFC had a cable channel I would pay for it. I am not going to pay extra to watch fights that for the past few years have been free. I already lay extra for FS2, and now the prelims have gone from that.

I almost paid 55 for 169 pre Cruz dropping out. It would have been my first bought UFC since Fitch/Baconator Overeem/Lesnar,... and man I would have been pissed. I'd pay $20 for a card now, but no more. they're just not that great anymore.
