How long do you think it will be, if ever, that the Zuffa/UFC launches it's own premium TV channel?
Dana has just confirmed they are working to move into India. They already have Ireland, England, Germany, Canada, USA and Australia.
Plus, rumors have circulated recently about them going to Japan, China and Brazil among others.
He also discussed the possibility of doing a British version of TUF. If they are considering also doing that in their other international markets, it won't be long before their already massive library of fights and fight shows swells even bigger.
Between all the canned UFC/WEC/Pride fight cards that they already have in the vault, they have 11 seasons of TUF, dozens of specialty shows such as Ultimate Knock-Outs, Prime time shows, UFNs etc. They could add to that easily with Joe Rogans' show and more. Hell, they could give Goldie and Bruce their own shows for that matter, and they could cover things like fitness and training, in depth fighter profiles, a tattoo show with the stories behind their fighters' ink etc.
Do you think the ZUFFA has intentions to build their own channel and rake in even more dollars from sponsors? And if they did, would you subscribe?

Yes, and yes. I would totally sign up for something like that. I bet they'd end up stealing a lot of the Japanese mma from HDNet too.

I doubt I would subscribe to such a channel. Despite all the events they have in their archives, despite all the seasons of TUF, they would run out of things to air in about a month, if that.

Have you ever watched HDNet? 80% re-runs and still a very popular channel.
Plus, I am SURE they could come up with a magnitude of new shows similar to the ones above.

I wish all the organizations could be on one network. but thats a long shot. HD does good with their MMA itd be cool if UFC made a deal to air some events there like fight nights or even create new shows like u said

If they had there events on that channel both UFC and WEC live with no extra PPV charge.
In one short word.
Yes.

That's if Japanese MMA is still around. DREAM is about to go under, and Japanese MMA in general is in quite a bit of trouble.

I know Japanese MMA is struggling. Enter Zuffa to save the day. That's kinda what I was getting at. Dana has been saying for a long time that he wants to get into Japan.

I think this could be a good idea for the future when the WEC's contract with Versus is up. They could play all the WEC events there, old episodes of TUF, UFC Unleashed on there. They could eventually put specials there like certain fight nights. They could also figure out some sort of deal to show some Bellator and other lower level promotions fights. I think it would be a great idea

The only problem with a channel like that in Australia would be that I'd have to get it as part of some sort of package deal. Our cable providers suck hairy monkey testicle and have set packages that are a complete rip-off. In other words, to get one channel I'd actually want to watch, I'd have to pay for a dozen channels I have no interest in, making it completely out of the range of reality.
Now, if they offered a subscription based internet streaming service... OMG! Hell yes I'd subscribe!

It sounds awesome, but I fear there would be a lack of shows to run. They'd really have to go out on a limb to create some shows to fill up their airtime.

I really don't think it would be a problem at all. Especially if they were willing to invest in production of more original programming.
Imagine watching a new UFN at 8:00, the latest episode of TUF Australia at 10:00, followed by The Private Life of Fedor at 11:00.
You KNOW they'd have him if they went mainstream premium network.
They already have one gazillion hours of Pride, UFC and WEC events, UFNs, Ultimate *s, Top this and that, not to mention smaller promotions that they are in cahoots with in fighter development who have shows they could promote as "farm league". Then you'd have specialty shows hosted by past and present Octagon Girls on subjects like health and nutrition, fitness and training (anything that gets them dressed right lol). It wouldn't have to be all fights all the time. MMA fans have interest in the culture just as much as the fights. Otherwise, you wouldn't be here right now.
I can see it coming. The PPVs will still be extra because of the same reasons they are now, but i can see it happening.

Really?? They could have an MMAlive type show thats an hour long like the rest of the sports do. They could show re runs of TUF. They could show UFC Unleashed and Best of PRIDE. They could air some lower level fighting. Maybe find a way to show DREAM and Bellator fights. Maybe find a way to show the SF Challenger cards. Once the WEC's contract with Versus is up, they could move those cards to that. They could show some UFC Fight Night type cards here. They could show some behind the scenes type of shows where they go into camps of fighters with upcoming fights. I think there is a whole lot of cool stuff they could do with this.

And I was just thinking...check this out
Brock Lesnar marathons....GSP marathons....BJ Penn marathons etc....showing all their fights chronologically. How many times I wanted to sit down and sort through my DVDs to watch one fighter's rise or fall through his career. Would be nice!
Bottom line is, they already have tons of the stuff you put on TV....video. They actually have too much to tie up another channel with!

You know, after a bit more thought on this, it occurred to me that I vaguely recall someone, somewhere, mentioning that Zuffa were looking into ways of bringing live streaming of events to the net. In this day and age, an internet 'channel', is possibly a more likely scenario than a cable channel. They would retain control over content, can stream to anywhere in the world, can offer subscription packages independent of any free to air or cable network, and they would receive any advertising revenue.
This is the type of thing I would definitely subscribe to (assuming it was a reasonable price and offered decent content).

If I owned a TV, I would absolutely pay for this. Although...I'd probably end up sitting on my *** a lot more often which isnt good. So I'd really have to debate if so much awesomeness is detrimental to my health.
