Triple M Junkie Idol Game thread

Sixto Rodriguez - Sugar Man
webble:
I haven't heard it I really like it as a song, fantastic track not sure if it works as a walk out song would have to try it to find out 8/10
cmvideo75:
I like it. Different vibe for the walkout but this could get me into the right frame of mind. I've seen some fighters walk out to more mellow stuff and it can work. 8/10
Brick:
Absolutely nothing about this says walk-out pump-up music. Very slow paced, with a bit of a bummer vibe. Trying to make sense of why someone would have submitted this, but I’m coming up blank. I actually went back and re-read the submission guidelines to see if I was missing something. Nope. 2/10.
GoodCat:
So, just to make sure I wasn't going crazy, I went and read the description of the category and is definitely says " This includes finding a walkout song that gets them pumped and hyped up going into fight". Does this kind of song actually get you hyped up and ready to fight? An acoustic song about doing cocaine and smoking weed? Sorry, but this is another one that completely misses the mark for me.
2/10

Let Me Drown - CODEPENDENCY
webble:
not heard it, its not for me but I could see someone walking out to it 5/10
cmvideo75:
Oh boy, I hate this lol. This style of metal kills me... there are soooo many 2000's band that play this dreck. The terrible synths with all of the big bass drops, the girl whining, the guy doing screamo shit. Ooof. This is one style of metal I can not get into. 3/10
Brick:
This is more like it. Not a great song per se, but definitely fills the bill for this competition far better than some of the other total downer entries. At least this one is upbeat. 7.5/10.
GoodCat:
Alright, finally a song that would actually get me hyped. And I'm not just saying it because I like metalcore. This one starts off with a bang, and any song that you get a "bleh!" within the first 10 seconds is good with me lol. And while I've heard of the band, I've never heard this song. Another suggestion for you if you are into metalcore with a female singer, check out the band Gore. 8.5/10

8. @ABB
Dink–Green Mind
webble:
not heard it feels kinda beastie boys I wouldn't walk out to it cuz Im not American but I like the track 5/10
cmvideo75:
Not bad. It's got a good live feeling to it and has the right vibe. I'd go for something a little heavier myself, but I wouldn't be embarrassed to walk out to this. 7/10
Brick:
I remember this band from college-era, I wasn’t sure about the song from the name, but as I started listening I can definitely remember my roommates playing this song because I didn’t really like it but they loved it, so unfortunately this is going to mean a -5 deduction. But I could see this as a walkout song; not really my style, but it fits. 7/10, but with the deduction you are going down to 2/10.
GoodCat:
For some reason, I just picture Sam Alvey walking out to this song with that big grin on his face the whole time haha. Pretty good choice, not the best but far from the worst. 6/10

DIFANG - ELDERS DRINKING SONG
webble:
not heard it its weird and lacks words 2/10
cmvideo75:
Shit.... I was into this idea for the first 10 seconds. If the song was just the chanting from the elders, this could be a real vibe walking out to. But then that awful beat kicks in and this turns into an Imagine Dragons song. No thank you. 2/10
Brick:
Hmmm. Was prepared to torch it, but it kind of started to grow on me as it went. So, doesn’t really get me pumped up and ready to fight, but I didn’t totally hate it either. 5/10.
GoodCat:
So was Sail Away by Enya already taken or something? I'm just kind of baffled by how many of these songs are literally the complete opposite of what the category states. I mean, I know some of this is subjective but this is Gregorian chant set to music. This would be the hold music for a bank without the vocals in it, not a song to get a fighter hyped up to go out and engage in hand to hand combat. 2/10

10. @Rickyc123
Hard Rock Hallelujah - Lordi
webble:
I'm so sorry this is the one song I have heard so minus 5 for that I'd give it 7/10 - 5 = 2/10
cmvideo75:
I'm in!! It's like the Finnish GWAR. Nothing like some good metal cheese to walk out to. 8/10
Brick:
I’ve never heard of this Gwar rip-off. I can see why. Not a great song. Could serve as a descent walk-out song, though. 6.5/10.
GoodCat:
Gwar called and said expect to hear from their lawyers very soon. Beyond that though, this was a pretty fun song. I could definitely see someone like Filthy Tom Lawler walking out to a song like this. And if I didn't know this was Eurovision and that it was a real thing, I would probably think this was AI generated. But good pick overall. 7/10

BOB Dominator - Dragon lair
webble:
not heard it like it this is a song I could walk out to 9/10
cmvideo75:
Not my vibe but I can definitely see this being an effective walkout song. I wouldn't walkout to it though.6/10
Brick:
Digging it. Could definitely see walking out to this and getting jazzed up, I could see the crowd being into it as well. 8.5/10.
GoodCat:
I know there is nothing in the category rules that say AI can't be used, and I am gonna abide by that and not disqualify it or give it a 0 score, but that doesn't mean I can't destroy it otherwise. AI music is the worst thing possible, it strips the human art away completely. And even if this weren't AI, it just doesn't do much for me at all. Sorry not sorry. And going forward, I'm gonna obliterate any AI submissions unless that is part of the category. 1/10

Downstait-Bad
webble:
not heard it love it 10/10
cmvideo75:
More bad 2000's metal. The terrible synth.... the production is crappy, the chorus is cheesy.... although I guess it does fit for a fight song topic.5/10
Brick:
Probably my favorite of the bunch. Had kind of a Killswitch Engage vibe to it. Would serve well as a walkout song. Lyrics are even topical and would fit the going-to-fight attitude. 9/10.
GoodCat:
I knew Downstait did some wrestler theme songs, like Cody Rhodes, Matt Cardona, Nic Nemeth/Dolph Ziggler, but didn't realize they actually write their own originals as well. This pretty much sounds like a generic wrestler theme as well. It's definitely not terrible, but not near the top of the list either. Pretty generic butt rock, but it would sound good coming through the speakers in an arena for sure. 6/10

Ready for War · Joznez · 2WEI · Kataem
webble:
I like this too but not quite as much as the last 2 so 8/10
cmvideo75:
Another one that I can see being an effective walk out song for the right fighter.... just not me. But it's got lots of drama, a good aggressive rap about being Ready for War. It works even though there are some parts of the song that kill the momentum.7/10
Brick:
Not for me. This was the last one I reviewed, and was about to comment in the thread about my pleasure at the lack of rap, then I came across this. It would not get me pumped up to fight, I’d just want to be getting to cage as fast as possible so this crap would stop. 3/10.
GoodCat:
Sounds a lot like NF, especially that orchestral kind of sound before the beat drops. But I do think this would do a good job of getting a fighter hyped up to walk out. Good pick 7/10

This was a simple and straightforward round but very difficult to impress the judges with a song that they heard before.

Still a very tight race after the 2nd round, all the heavy hitters are putting themselves in good position to make the final cut, going into the last preliminary round. Join us next week to see the final top 8 rankings. Which of these players will rise to the occasion and who will choke.
Round 3 will be up Friday 6/12. See you then.

@Brick: I know a bit of Prodigy, but I guess just their main hits as I don’t think I’ve ever heard this one. They have some better songs for walk-out for sure, but you almost certainly would have been risking a -5 deduction had you picked “Breathe,” “Firestarter,” or what would have been a pre-deduction 10/10 from me for “Smack My Bitch Up” (but Dana would never let me use that, lol). This one was ringing somewhat of a bell, but not something I can put my finger on as definitely having heard before. Didn’t love it as a walkout song, but didn’t hate it. 6/10

Ha I know I could never pick those classics as I knew that was probably your era the mid 90s. Hot ride was a little later around 2004, it’s actually Juliet Lewis on Vocals.

Although I loved my choice, an entry that had a good chance of not being known to the judges. I always thought a good rock song with fast, hard drum beats would be my choice for best walkout song, but it would’ve been virtually impossible to pick a one that CM, Brick or even Goodcat wouldn’t have heard of(unless Webbles a secret heavy rock fan/metal head?) I would’ve had a good Metallica, Slayer, Marilyn Manson, MegaDeth, Ramstein or Pantera song and there’s so many cool ones to chose from.

In my second choice, I’m curious if the judges have heard of this one?

^Not known in America or in the charts over there, but played in Guy Ritchies Rock n Rolla and is Nathaniel Woods walkout song. Played more in Europe and I thought @webble may have heard it but maybe not the others?

No don't think so or at least I've forgotten it if I have
