yeah, if he took Nolans arms and just kept him there, i would have no problem with it.
But that was not what happened there.

I don't think there will ever be a perfect solution for the problem.
In my eyes, if you got to the better position it is on the defending fighter to get out of it otherwise they will stall it out and at the same time, the fighter in the better position should use it to finish the fight, otherwise they will stall it out.

Yes, that is what I'm saying. Yesterday isn't the best example and yes, definitely should not have been stood up. But what if Renato would have grabbed Tom's hand or vice-versa and they just laid there for a few minutes doing nothing? Does the ref just let's that happen and it goes to the judges to figure out? Do you give it to the fighter with the better dominant position because he neutralized his opponent even though nothing happened or do you fault that fighter for stalling it out?
For this particular fight, do you think it will result is an immediate rematch?

Miragliotta did some weird shit in all the years.
I remember Michael Page saying: In the walk in to the cage Dan forced him to take of his sunglasses because "this is fighting and not theater" or something like that.
So he took them off and the second he went past Dan, he put them back on.
Dan has weird sence of righteousness

i don't even think Dan thinks he is more important than others, i really think he loves MMA and wants to "protect it". The problem is, he wants to protect it, the way he sees it. And this is not the way everyone else sees it.
For him: walking out like it's WWE is disrespectful and respect is important, so he tries to block it.
The problem with respect is.. it's so subjective and everybody has a different understanding about respect.
It is always a bad judgement call IMO. (did use this correctly? xD)

So i don't hink he is a bad person or thinks more highly of himself, but he has a weird realtionship with respect/rules.

That being said.. he also really could be a power tripping Ref. :P

I appreciate your thoughts, but I'm not sure why you think I would have some kind of snarky or aggressive comeback to this post. Nor do you need to retract anything you have said just based on my employment history. You are entitled to think whatever you want of me without regard to my military service, which has no bearing on my character. While I appreciate and respect your sentiment, my time with the Army does not give me any kind of pass or entitle me to any special treatment (I don't even use those silly veteran parking spaces some stores have; I'm not handicapped).
