...make me the best Wrestler in MMA, and I'll give you my soul.
"Absolutely", said the Devil. Little did Ben know that he would be robbed of his Striking Power, and his Submission Offense!

So does that mean that if he gets a KO or sub, he has to die and go to hell?

I wonder how Asken's wrestling will hold up against Maia or Shields or how he will fare against someone that is tough to get down like GSP or Koscheck.

Askren wouldn't be able to set up his tds against anyone with good tdd due to his abysmal striking. Heiron gave him a tough fight and hes 37 years old and not even top 25

While Askren has been dominate in Bellator, he has not been impressive, or showed any improvement. He does have great wrestling, ground control, and strength. No way he could hold people down without those skills. But, he has not faced anyone that comes close to being a top ten WW.

He'd embarrass Shields & Koscheck, and I think he'd probably be able to maintain top position on Maia without getting subbed. If he was to fight GSP he's probably struggle with GSPs striking, but if he got him down (and he probably could) he'd keep him there.

IMO you are thinking a bit too highly of him.
Without setting up his TD (with strikes) I don't see any way he can get GSP down. And while its plausible that he can get Maia down, Maia's sweeps and subs are on another level compared with what Askren has been facing...

Askrens top control is as good as anyone in MMA. That part of his college wrestling game was very strong & it;s translated well over to MMA. With decent knowledge of jiu-jitsu, combined with his wrestling, I think he'd be able to avoid sweeps/subs.
And yeah it'll be difficult taking GSP down, but if Askren can get a hold of GSP at some point he'll be able to take him down (as long as Phil Nurse isn't in GSPs corner).

As good as anyone in MMA, anyone on the second class of MMA maybe? That is the problem, he has faced some good competition, but how would his competition fare against the top 10 of UFC? I just think he makes it look like he is dominating guys, but how good are those guys really, when you put them against the creme de la crop, know what I mean?

Well yeah, if you just look at the people he's fighting then you can doubt his skills. But if you watch his fights, and see the way he's humiliating his opponents, it's pretty clear he's a great grappler.

Last night was the last fight on Askrens contract.

I watched his fight last night the guy he fought was a guy who knew nothing of the ground game. Jimmy said it like ten times last night that he didn't train one second of wrestling for his camp. That is like me going in boxing with out a lick of training and facing a pro of ten years. Doesn't have to be the best to make me look like i am, an amature.
The only true comparison we have to Ben facing anyone near the top is Jay Hieron who most people felt Hieron won the split dec. Jay Hieron the same guy who has had what like four fights in the UFC and lost them all by tko/ko or his dec loss to ellenberger. There are so many wrestlers at WW which isn't the case with Bellators ww touney winners most of them don;t know much wrestling if any at all.

I'd guess Bellator will try to re-sign him. Don't know what the UFC thinks about him. Obviously the fan reaction is mixed, but I enjoy watching him fight.
What I see is an elite wrestler who can take anyone down at 170 and control them. When he gets his double it seems like he is instantly in side control, then mount. He gets in position to execute submissions but just doesn't seem to be seasoned/experienced enough to pull them off. The only time he tried to show his striking in the Hieron fight it didn't work out well. But, that was in 2011. He seems to be a much better fighter now.
I see 7 legit wins on his record- Hornbuckle, Good, Thompson, Hieron, Lima, Amoussou, Koreshkov. I'd like to see what he could do in the UFC if Bellator lets him test the waters.

Before I make a decision on him one way or the other, I'd like to see what he can do in the UFC against top level guys who have faced other top level wrestlers.
Right now, I really don't know.
That's my main problem with Bellator in general though, I don't know how many of their guys are legit because a lot of their top talent are extremely raw prospects that Bellator scooped up and had fight against each other.

The problem with Askren getting a hold of GSP is that he might not be the guy doing the taking down. I suspect GSP is stronger, quicker and more explosive than Askren. Any time the two tangle I would expect GSP to come out ahead at least 75% of the time.
Askren loses to GSP in striking and wrestling.
