I've always thought Lesnar would beat Carwin but you have to admit that Carwin was really impressive last weekend. Carwin is one powerful and aggressive dude. If he can stuff Lesnar's TD I can see Lesnar getting put to sleep. What do you guys think?

Seems compared to Brock, people think Carwin's wrestling sucks. I see him stuffing the takedowns and keeping the fight standing.
Seeing Brock unconscious at the hands of the true beast of the HW division will make my MMA year.

I think you hit it right on the money Sed, if he can stuff the TD, it's definitely Carwin's fight to lose. But until I see someone stop that Bull Rush of Lesnar's, I don't see anyone beating him.

Lesnar looks way bigger than Shane in the picture. Probably because he's wearing shoes but still. Lesnar is quite a bit bigger than Shane. Shane is a chubby 265. I think his second UFC fight he actually weighed in at 255 and he just looked cut, not smaller.

I dont see anyone stopping Lesnar's takedown, and I predict they are on the canvas pretty fast, and if Shane doesnt have a plan how to get up, he will be pounded to the basement, He packs a lot strenght in his hands, but I dont see him keeping Lesnar on the clinch, or even getting the fight in there..
But I am anxious to see this fight, really clad that we can see the real #1 taking on the real #2..

Shane Carwin has great wrestling, good enough to keep the fight standing for the 2 minutes he needs to knock him the f--- out, and i am actually a big brock lesnar fan, but Carwin cant he overlooked anymore. I am one of the only people that knew he would spank Mir.

I stand corrected! "Carwin wrestled in college, becoming a two-time NCAA Division II Wrestling National Runner-Up Heavyweight in 1996–97 and the NCAA II Wrestling Heavyweight National Champion in 1999. He was also a two-time All-American in football for Western State."

That probably just means Carwin couldn't afford to go to a better school than he did. Says nothing about his wrestling ability.

Randy stuffed Brock's takedown attempt rather easily in round 2. I imagine Carwin's strategy would have to involve some clinch work to tire Brock out and minimize the danger of being GnP'd.

it speaks to the level of coaching he recieved in college, it speaks to the level of competition he faced.
so yeah, i think it indicates what kind of wrestler it is. sure, in a pure sense of the word it doesn't say anything about his ability, but you can't assume that it means he's more than a very good Div-2 wrestler. he hasn't proven otherwise.
him being too poor to afford a div-1 school is less likely than him just not being good enough to get a scholarship to a div-1 school

ya I really doubt the guy had to pay for school, he likely got a wrestling or football scholarship.

Personally, I think getting rocked by Gonzaga, taken to the ground by one of the best jiu jitsu practicing heavyweights in the world and getting back to his feet was pretty impressive.
I don't know, maybe it's just me who feels that way. I mean, I know a lot of people on these boards have a problem with GG(despite him always facing stiff competition), but I think Carwin's display of fortitude was phenomenal.
Call me crazy.

Standing up against GG doesn't mean he can stand up against Lesnar. Still I think it's highly possible that Carwin has the ability to stuff Lesnar's TD and get back to his feet from the mat. Randy Couture did it. The only thing is how much better is Lesnar now than he was when he faced Couture.

Yo, when I saw Lesnar in the cage with Carwin, I could not get over how much bigger he was. It's still a bit of a surprise. He has to be a good three or four inches taller.

I personally consider GG to be a far better striker than Lesnar. Brock might have some of the least precise striking I've ever seen. Considering his power, I'd hate to see how much damage he could do to a human face if he worked on his striking accuracy.
