Castaway MMA v2.0

@Ruff Area Shot Caller

The new guy made me remember this. I meant to post it after I watched Weapons (pretty decent flick). This guy played the police chief:

I think I had a chance of being killed today--saw my life flash before my eyes. I was out on Lake Hicpochee in my canoe, because I couldn't get to my spot on Okeechobee due to the water being too low. So, I went to this other spot. The water was about 3 feet deep, and I was cruising along using the electric motor, when I thought I ran aground. I tried using reverse, and all of a sudden this giant gator freaked out and started splashing and almost tipped my canoe over. I had to dive face first to the front of the canoe to stabilize it.

I apparently drove on top of an alligator that was resting on the bottom and freaked it out. I was very close to tipping over. My heart was pounding and I was shaking for about a half hour afterwards, because I was in the middle of nowhere. I was the only one within miles of that area, other than a few teenagers shooting into the bank about a mile or so down from me. I remember reading about a lady who was killed last year on Lake Kissimmee, after she ran over a big alligator with her canoe.

It was an adventure, but just a reminder that the unexpected can and will happen. I think I have some divine help on my side. That was on my way back from moorhen hunting and fishing, so I was glad to be back in the truck and on the way home after that episode.

Yikes; goddamn man. Glad you are posting!

Hey @Eranys , I have surpassed my self-imposed, initial comment count of 100 comments. Can you please change my moniker to Blue Wing now, instead of Green Wing?

Thank You.

Red Wing it is!

That's disgusting.

Hey Gorilla, you ever go on a crow hunt? I hear it's popular to do up in the area where you are. The Delaware canal area. Probably because there are not many migratory ducks, and people hunt crows out of the need for something to do.

They taste like a mixture of wild duck and dove, from what I've read. I would be willing to try it. I'm not against making do with what is available.

No. I only kill what I'll eat and I haven't been that hungry yet. They're one of the only things you used to be able to shoot year round along with coyotes, even on Sunday. Now there's a season for them I think.

I'm doing a thing where I mainly eat wild caught food. My buddy Cousin Vinnie, from Pelican Bone Outdoors, is doing the same thing.

If you get a chance, watch that YouTube Channel from south Louisiana. I love that guy. The swamp men from around here have a lot in common with the south Louisiana coonass people, just different accents. I love the traditions and ways associated with those Cajuns.
