The only sport I follow closely is MMA. Am I alone here?
And by "closely" I mean you can name at least 20 competitors and their skill sets.

1. MMA
2. American Football (Specifically the Denver Broncos)
3. Basketball (Specifically the Lakers)
4. NCAA Football (UCLA Bruins)
That's in order. I'm a self proclaimed MMA Junkie. Hi everyone! :geek:
I love Football though and religiously follow news about the Broncos and when the NBA season gets started I really get into the Lakers.

Couldn't you lump 2 and 4 together? It's the same sport with minor differences.

You could say so. But if you said that to a HUGE NCAA football fan they would smack you. The sports do have some different rules, but the fan bases are entirely different and carry with them sort of a different culture. I could go on but I think you get what I'm saying. Following one doesn't mean you follow the other. Different teams, dynamics, etc. Not all NCAA football fans follow the NFL, vice-versa.

Basketball(college & pro) football(college & pro) boxing, kickboxing, mma, soccer and I'm a big fan of of post season baseball-it's just hard for me to get into the whole regular season..way too many games.
Now that football season is up, mma will go on the back burner some.

IMHO that's splitting hairs. Crack open an encyclopaedia and there's just one entry for American football.

1. Other - College Football
2. MMA
3. Baseball (MLB)
4. Basketball (NBA)
5. Pro Football (NFL)
College Football and NFL Football are two completely different sports. There are not only a few rule differences, but the speed of the game is much different, the overall way the game is played is different, and the biggest reason to me, the reason most of the athletes play the game are different. It probably doesn't seem like much difference to someone who doesn't follow very closely. But, if you were a big fan of either you would understand what I mean.

But can we agree that both fall under the umbrella of "Football"?

I know im all over the place with the teams but cmon cut me some slack. other than those sports i might catch like a stanley cup playoffs if the Caps are playing or if its an important game. same with NCAA football, ill watch it if its a rivalry game like OSU vs. Michigan. You just cant miss those games.

i guess you can since its the same sport but TBH they are two completely different animals. NCAA sports in general are a gamblers paradise and its also all about tradition for the schools so people love to watch it, also rivalries.

I follow NHL, CJHL (Juniors) and international hockey closely. I watch the CFL if Lions games are on. I follow international rugby and MLS a decent amount as well.

I'd be curious to know who DOES NOT follow MMA closely here.

Other:
W.C.P. - World Championships of Pornography
I have all the porn channels, most of the subscriptions to the BIG mags. I know all the up and cumming starlets. I'm friend ed by a lot of them on my FB and Twitter. I'm taking videography in school as we speak. My best friends are strippers. I attend the AVN awards religiously.
I'm into safe sex, but my computer catches viruses all the time.

1 & 2. College Football (Michigan Wolverines) & Pro Basketball (OKC Thunder). These two are miles above anything else. During the college football season that is #1 and NBA is 2, once football ends NBA goes to 1 & football to 2.
3. Tennis
4. MMA
5. College Basketball (only during March Madness)
Figured I'd be honest rather than lie to look cool. I could name well over 20 NFL & MLB players and their skills but I'm not a fan of either. 5 years ago my list would've been a lot different, but MMA has never been higher than 3. I've been a fan of football & basketball since I was a little kid, nothing will ever pass those two.

2. NFL Football
3. College Football

4. Baseball- I lose interest once the Cubs start sucking.
5. Basketball- I don't follow close, like watching every now and again, can easily name 20 guys.
6. Hockey- Like going to games live, not so much on TV

MMA
College football
College Basketball
NFL
Those are the big four for me in that order. Watch them, wager on them, follow them as closely as is possible to do so without causing my wife to leave me.
I could name 20 MLB or NBA players, but I really only follow those sports via yahoo! or ESPN stories, I don't watch them much live or wager on them.
I couldn't name 20 active NASCAR drivers, golfers, tennis players or boxers...
I casually follow the EPL (soccer) becuase I'm usually bored at work. I might be able to name you 20 players, but I doubt I could get to 25.

1. MMA
2. NBA
3. NFL
4. Kickboxing
i love mma like you guys and i watch nba and nfl but i dont follow it closely like i do mma. i do watch the playoffs closely though. i put kickboxing fourth since i dont watch it as much as i want (because they dont show it on tv very much) but i do watch k-1/it's showtime/krush whenever i get my dirty hands on it. i kinda put it together with mma. since i have like 1 Mb of memory in my brain, mma is easier to follow and i can probably tell you the last 2 or 3 opponents of many fighters but i couldn't even tell you the last 2 or 3 NBA or NFL championship winners even though i've watched every single game for the past 10-12 years. sometimes having bad memory sucks.
