^^^Yeah, but Jones and Silva are fighting Hand-Picked opponents. Only GSP is fighting a real contender. I dislike Bendo and Nate Diaz, still should be a fun fight. Everyone is entitled to his opinion.

Extremely disappointed to hear about Mir's injury. I am a huge fan of both guys, and I think this fight would have been good to measure where both of them are in their careers. I'll be very interested to see who they replace Mir with. I'm not so concerned that Werdum lost in the opening round of the tournament. I still think he'd be a good test for DC and a good win to send him into the UFC on.

Don't worry about it. I'm not gonna mention any names but I suspect there's a few guys under the UFC's payroll for "positive blogging" that are this forum for damage control. Anytime something bad happens they're on here defending the UFC like ... they work for them? Can't accept reality.
Just like when I search best "cell phone reception" I see all these people defending LG or whatever while the others are slamming them. Nice work

lol Daniel gets in as a replacement and wins it and somehow having him fight a guy who lost in it doesn't make sense?
add in that Daniel won a tourny.......good for him, now he is just a HW fighter, no significant belt.......just another HW fighter

Now that you,ve soaked up the news of yet another big fight cancelation due to the injury of Frank Mir, If the UFC was to get another HW from their roster to face the Strikeforce Champ then who ,in 6 weeks could or for that matter would take Mir's spot on Nov.3 ?

Am I the only one that doesn't like this match up? It has nothing to do with Werdum losing in the tourney, and more to do with how he lost. The fight with AO was lame, and I see him doing the same thing with Cormier. I wouldn't mind seeing Gonzaga fight Cormier, or Kongo. Neither one of them is top ten, but I can see it being a good fight.
Any chance Randy comes out of retirement?

Randy would be savagely murdered by Cormier(in the striking and even the wrestling)..Randy just doesn't do well with better and larger wrestlers or grapplers ie Brock,Barnett,Ricco,Big Nog,etc...
Although I do agree that it could be the same as the Reem fight,I do think that Werdum has improved his Muay Thai a lot since then and could make it into a competitive fight...

Werdum would be the logical choice here. He's more dangerous on the feet and has just as nasty of a ground game as MIr, if not better. This fight would be BAD ***!

For a number of reasons. Syliva's name was highly connected to the Cormier fight before Mir was announced. In fact, the fight was so close to being signed that MMA Junkie prematurely announced the fight on the main page. Arlovski and Sylvia just fought and the fight went to a no contest. Clearly Arlovski was winning the fight on that night, but ultimately it went down as a no contest. Also, and probably most importantly, Arlovski was eliminated in the first round on the Strikeforce Heavyweight GP. How anti climatic would it be to have Cormier's(the winner of the tournament) last fight in Strikeforce be against a guy who was eliminated in the first round? If I work at Showtime, there is no way I'm letting that happen.
