Lyoto is a weird fighter," Jackson said. "He's kind of boring. I think that style works for him, the way he makes people run after him. I mean, he's good, he's undefeated, but he's boring. If I was the promoter of a show I wouldn't have guys like that fighting on my show."

I have a feeling Rampage will be the one to hand Machida his first loss

And although Machdia has had some lame fights in the past, his fight with Thiago Silva was great and far from boring. He made one of my favorite fighters look like a chump and ended it with a brutal KO. Kinda hard to hate on that.

Jackson had a successful defense against Henderson his first time around

Rampage will have no answer for Machida if they fight.

If Machida wrecks Rampage then G-d help the LHW division cuz right now Rampage is probably the only one with the tools to take Machida out.

I admit, I'm not the biggest Machida fan. However, his 3 biggest wins in the UFC were hardly boring.
Quick highlight KO over Thiago Silva. 3 round destruction of Tito Ortiz. Excellent submission of Sokoudju.
Looking forward to seeing how he does with somebody like Rashad Evans, who could probably dance around him more than he dances around anyone else and has KO power and can take him down. Also, how he'd do with somebody like Rampage. Two totally different fights, both would be very interesting.

I don't think Rampage has the tools to beat Machida besides his KO power. Machida will be quicker then Page, also Machida has more accurate punches and also has the advantage on the ground with his BJJ. Page is going to be in some trouble if they fight.

I think Machida's quickness and awkward style would frustrate Rampage and cause him to make some big mistakes and get caught. Machida takes him.
I think Rashad Evans has the perfect style for Machida. He's very quick, and stronger than Machida. If he can avoid big shots from Machida, and get him to the ground, Machida's in big trouble. He'll have submission edge, but Evans wrestling is good and he'd be too strong on top of Machida, he also has big KO power, and whoever landed big shot could win fight quickly. I'd take Evans.

Agreed. IMO the more aggressive the fighter is, the lesser the chance they have of beating Machida.

Rampage is cocky and stubborn enough to walk to the center of the cage and put his hands at his side and make Lyoto engage him. And when he doesnt the crowd will boo him uncontrollably. That might be what it takes to beat Machida....just standing there and making him come after you.

Machida is too smart to fall for that routine. That may have worked against Chuck but it won't work this time.

Thanks for ruining the thread.
That post was very precise and on the button for Page's obvious bitching of Machida. You can tell he's planning the excuses/hate for Machida when he loses. I just pray he doesn't (deleted)

That's unnecessary! We're talking about MMA fights here and people's opinions of fights and fighters. Do we really need those kinds of ridiculous comments?

I wonder what made Rampage say that?
I like Machida's style even if people view it as boring.
I also think Machida would beat Rampage, I honestly don't know who can beat Machida in the LHW division................

A plethora of reasons could be made.
1. He's trying to get in Machida's head incase they match up down the road
2. He is expressing his feelings about Machida's style and the fact that it doesn't appeal to the fans.
3. He is scared shitless of fighting Machida because he won't know what to do in the cage.

All you have to do is beat him, argue all you want about how over rated Machida is, but he just doesn't lose. It is blatantly obvious the tops of the LHW division have been ducking him as why did no one else step in when Thiago was hurt the first time?
14 times he has step in the MMA ring and 14 times he has won. No matter your level of competition, no one has that claim.well I guess there is Rickson
c'mon, someone just beat the guy.
As a side note, now that Machida disposed of Thiago so easily, doesn't that make Tito's acomplishment of lasting all three rounds a little more impressive in your mind?
